Geatano was an excelent guide and very friendly as well as his knowledge of Pompei is above average I will say.

I've done may tours and Gaetano is among the very best. Spent almost three hours at Pompeii...he brings ancient history to life. A brilliant and engaging story-teller. We learned a ton. One of the most memorable days ever. Gaetano is truly an outstanding guide. He's also charring, engaging an lot of fun.

Ciro is Gaetano's son, which means he's a 4th generation Pompeii tour guide with 3 generations of knowledge and insights distilled in him! He loves Pompeii and shares many small intricate details as well as the larger holistic contexts on the site. All these historical tales are like hidden treasures that you'd definitely miss by yourself or even with an app (since they are not just for one particular house or location).
During the tour I was CONSTANTLY astonished at the ingenuity of these ancient people. A lot of what we think of as "modern" inventions were found again and again in Pompeii, except they accomplished these feats with technology from 2000 years ago (I am not going to spoil anything here). The 2 hours of tour was so fascinating that the time flew by, then I extended the tour 1 more hour where we walked to see some more unique architecture as well as visiting the Antiquarium of Pompeii where Ciro pointed out more often-missed facts of the artifacts there. After the tour, I explored more of Pompeii by myself with the kids, it was a huge place! Where else can you walk in an authentic time capsule the size of a city?!

More details: I have always dreamed of visiting Pompeii and got a chance 20+ years later where I could go with my two children (6 and 8). Luckily, I found out about Ciro on Rick Steves' Forum.
In the beginning Ciro gave an overview of how Pompeii functioned as a Roman city and the types of people who came to Pompeii. We stepped right into the city and history came alive! At the different buildings or sites, he told stories that brought back to life the people who lived there through the architecture they left behind. There were lots of similar types of houses and architecture in Pompeii, and Ciro took me to the quintessential structures, the most beautiful of each type. Ciro also helped us take many pictures, suggesting popular sites and poses. My kids were small and often lingered at different "cool" places, Ciro was very accomodating and never rushed them, he would patiently continue to tell me about Pompeii while the kids were playing on the side. (It was definitely worth the money to have a private tour if you have small kids.)
Going to Pompeii was a dream come true, and Ciro's tour made it beyond my dreams where I can now love and respect not only Pompeii, but cherish the intricate details woven in the architecture, the paintings, and the small but original items that were suddenly left behind, all telling stories of how the ancient Pompeiians thrived, and in many ways just like us today. Their fate was a tragedy but a present sealed in time for us, unwrapped 2 millennia later, to remind us even today, that every day is a present. Thank you Ciro. Thank you Pompeii.

Gaetano was so knowledgeable and friendly. Our Pompeii tour was the highlight of our trip to Italy. He also arranged a wonderful driving tour of the Amalfi coast for our group. I highly recommend him!

Wonderful full day experience of Pompeii and the Amalfi coast during the off season. We took our two children, ages 12 & 8, who were captivated by Gaetano’s storytelling. I highly recommend his tour and feel this is essential to get a full appreciation of Pompeii. Very communicative and flexible with our travel plans.

Gaetano was awesome! He arranged a full day for us starting with pick up at our place in Positano, transport to Pompeii, private tour in Pompeii (given by him), transport to Naples to the Archeology Museum where we had another fantastic guide lead us through the museum, then transport on to our place in Rome. Gaetano is so knowledgeable and provided a captivating tour, as did our guide in Naples. Our driver was also wonderful - very kind and professional. I would highly recommend working with Gaetano and would book with him again - exceptional experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Pompeii with Ciro. We could not have asked for a better guide! He is so knowledgeable about the city of Pompeii and he took us places I know we would not have found on our own. We now have great memories of Pompeii as he assisted us with many photos. We ended our day with an enjoyable meal at the Garden Restaurant which Ciro recommended. We would definitely recommend this private tour.

We did our tour of Pompeii with Ciro (Gaetano’s son) and could not have been happier. I highly recommend Ciro as a guide - he is energetic and very engaged, but more importantly extremely knowledgeable about Pompeii and brings the town alive for you with his tour. He ensured we had a complete picture of what life was like just before the eruption. In addition, he skillfully navigates around the other tour groups and makes you feel like you are the only ones in the town, with some views of the lesser travelled areas. Another bonus: his ability to point out all the best photo opportunities (where he also takes on the role of photographer) ensured we have memories to take home!

I knew three years ago that I wanted Gaetano to be the one to introduce me to Pompeii. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I had to reschedule my trip to Italy multiple times. Gaetano worked with me throughout all of this and I finally got to meet him in August 2022. It was worth the wait! Gaetano arranged transportation to have us picked up at our hotel located in Amalfi. Once we arrived at Pompeii he greeted us with a friendly smile and much needed waters (it was a hot one!).
Gaetano was so full of information and showed us the side of Pompeii that I know we would not have experienced on your run-of-the-mill guided/self-guided tour. He was so passionate about the town and it's history. It caused me to fall in love with the town myself! So full of vibrancy and boasting the original pioneers.
We had a group of 5 (originally supposed to be 8 - Gaetano, thank you for working with us on that as well). Everyone in my group agreed that it was a highlight of our trip; not to be missed! Please, if you have any doubt in your mind... don't! Book with Gaetano! He is the absolute best. And it was a pleasure to share in his passion.

I with my friend are planning to visit Pompeii on 30 March. We would like a good guide. We arrive at Naples Station at say 11.00 am and require a two or three hour guided tour. My family of 4 is arriving by cruise ship in Salerno port on Sunday, July 1st. We would like a private tour that picks us up at the ship, takes us to Pompeii, Vesuvius, and if there is time, to Herculaneum. Our ship docks at 7am and departs at 7pm.
Can you provide this tour? July 1st is the first Sunday, so I know it will be very crowded.

The cost was 130 Euro per person, but it included door to door transportation to and from our hotel in Rome with scenic stops for pictures and breaks along the way and a stop n Sorrento for lunch and shopping. The cost is a deal for this trip!!!

Hi, May I ask a few questions? (or please direct me to website if it answers all of the questions below):
1) Do you offer a private (for two of us) or small group tour led by archeologist?
2) Can we reasonably do a day trip/tour of Pompeii leaving from and returning to Rome? How long would the tour be?
3) Is it possible to be picked up at our hotel in Rome? What time would we leave and return?
4) What is the cost?
5) We would like to tour October 5 or 6, 2017. Is this available? How do we reserve? What is the cancellation policy?

From wherever you stay in Rome or surrounding, in a Hotel or apartment, an English speaking driver will pick you up at 7:00 am.
Transfer to Pompeii made by a Mercedes van for up to 8 people .
Through the highway from Rome to Pompeii you will enjoy the view of Roman and Neapolitan countryside.
At 9:30 you will be at the main entrance of Pompeii archeological site.
I will meet and welcome you here with your admission fee tickets in my hand (you will skip the queue).
We will have a full immersion tour for 2:30 hours visiting all the highlights and exploring the daily life of the ancient Romans.
After that, there will be some time for facilities and refreshment.
Then you will continue onto one of the most beautiful parts of the Amalfi Coast until Positano.
Along the coast the English speaking driver will provide explanations and will stop several times for breathtaking photos.
In Positano you will have 2:30 hours of leisure, for lunch,visit the small town, shopping and so on.
Then back to Rome to drop you off at your accommodation for around 7/8:00 pm.

We are on a cruise and on June 6th, 2017 we will be in port in Naples, Italy. After looking at the excursion packages we wanted to utilize our time more thoroughly to see more things available while in port. We were hoping to combined a woodworking visit, a tour of Pompeii, visit cameos being made and going to Amalfi coast if possible. We are in port 7am-7pm June 6th 2017. Can you advise the best way to incorporate this visits into one tour?

Early morning tour of Pompeii (I highly recommend Gaetano as private guide) maybe squeeze in Sorrento, but you are really pushing it on time. Pompeii was the highlight of our trip, largely due to our awesome guide.
