‪Really Impressive Bath House‬

‪The people of Pompeii really loved their baths! Our tour guide told us this was the largest bathing complex in Pompeii. Like others, comprised of bathing rooms with multiple levels of heat and an impressive heating and moisture circulation system, it was quite the amazing building. I was amazed at the engineering effort put into something so simple yet crucial to the day-to-day life.‬

‪un complesso piuttosto ampio, con molte stanze dove si vede benissimo anche il funzionamento idraulico dei vari ambienti. sono presenti anche dipinti raffiguranti scene erotiche: evidentemente non si andava lì solo per rilassarsi‬

‪Located near the main entrance. Very impressing roman bath with areas which had different temperature baths from cold to hot with an advanced heating and water piping system. Nicely decorated walls and ceilings.‬

‪La loro costruzione risale all'anno 80 a.c.
Furore le più importanti delle tre presenti a Pompei.
Ancora oggi si percepisce il fascino della loro bellezza .
I cittadini ,distinti tra maschi e femmine,erano abituati a frequentare spesso questa struttura. ‬

‪Appena dietro il Tempio di Giove s’incontra una delle tre Terme di Pompei, la più grande e la più prestigiosa e cioè quelle del Foro. Edificate nell’80 a.C., suddivise in aree maschili e femminili, le Terme furono sepolte come il resto della città dalle ceneri e dai lapilli del Vesuvio. Oggi offrono allo sguardo del visitatore, nell’originaria bellezza, le nicchie per riporre abiti e oggetti per il bagno, decorate con figure maschili in terracotta (telamoni) e la volta con elaborati stucchi a rilievo. Di particolare pregio sono la grande vasca in cui fare il primo bagno in acqua fredda,( frigidarium), un grande braciere per il riscaldamento( tepidarium) ed infine le magnifiche decorazioni nel calidarium. Visitando queste Terme paiono tornare a rivivere quelli che erano i momenti sociali e mondani più graditi in città.‬

‪For Romans, going to a Terme was a very important everyday activity‬

‪These Forum Baths are located north of the Forum, in the Insula (Part) V of the Regio (Region) VII, using the numbering of the buildings in Pompeii. As it was also heavily damaged in the eruption of Vesuvius, what can be seen nowadays is the result of careful and meticulous restoration.

All sections of this Terme are interesting but for the two of us, the big marble basin (labrum) in the caldarium and the stucco, the statues and mosaics in the tepidarium were the most beautiful!‬
