‪The church is located in Via delle Botteghe Oscure, halfway between Piazza di Torre Argentina and Piazza Venezia.
It is so called ("St Stanislaus of the Poles") since the time when, in 1578, the church was given by Pope Gregory XIII to Polish Cardinal Stansislaus Hosius who financed the construction of a hospital and a hostel for Polish pilgrims.
Having obtained it, the cardinal rebuilt it giving it to his Polish compatriots, with an adjoining hospice for his fellow countrymen on pilgrimage to Rome, who was dedicated it to St. Stanislaus Szczepanowski.
The coat of arms of Cardinal Hosius, of the Nowina Zlotogolenczyk family of the Hosii family of Bendany, a crowned eagle, the symbol of Poland and with the head of a knight, is visible on the façade, which is a eighteenth-century work by the architect Francesco Ferrari, incorporated today in a four-storey Baroque building.
In 1729-1735 the whole complex was in fact largely modified by Francesco Ferrari who decorated its windows with very elaborate stuccoes.
It is the national church of the Poles.
The façade has two orders separated by a band with the dedicatory inscription.
The interior, with one nave, is rich in stuccos and decorations and presents works by Polish artists of the 18th century on the side altars.
The vault is decorated with a 1774 fresco by Ermenegildo Costantini depicting the glory of St. Stanislaus.
The altarpiece depicting Christ with SS Stanislaus, Adalbert and Hyacynth is by Antiveduto Grammatica.
Noteworthy is a large pipe organ Tamburini opus 168 from 1936, located over the entrance.
It is rarely open during the week, but on Sundays for the 10 am mass you can enter and admire this lovely and intimate church, whose dominant color for the stuccos and decoration is a pleasant lemon yellow.‬

‪Pope Gregory XIII, dedicated this temple to the Polish church. Built on the foundations of a Roman theater probably in the 4th century. It was taken over by Polish Cardinal Hozjusz on December 6, 1578, after which its renovation began. This church was in poor condition and reconstruction was carried out almost from the foundations. The funds for reconstruction were allocated by Polish kings Anna Jagiellonka and Stefan Batory as well as magnate families. After the death of cardinal Hozjusz finished the work of his secretary, Fr. inf. Stanisław Reszka. The rebuilt temple was consecrated in 1591 by the Cracow bishop Jerzy Radziwiłł. A hospice was established at the church to support Polish pilgrims and students. The current appearance of the church was obtained after reconstruction in 1757, and the contemporary design of the temple comes from the reign of Stanisław August Poniatowski .‬
