La stele è dedicata a Guglielmo Marconi e al suo grande genio. L' obelisco è molto bello e riccamente scolpito. Connota l'asse viario.

L'obelisco dell'Eur è un omaggio a Guglielmo Marconi e alla sua antenna. Si trova al centro di una rotonda in un punto cruciale per la viabilità del quartiere. Ieri mi trovavo da quelle parti per visitare gli interessanti musei che si trovano sulla piazza. L'obelisco non è granché bello anche se sono fiero del fatto che Roma lo abbia dedicato a un mio illustre concittadino.

Obelisco eretto e costruito in memoria di Giuglielmo Marconi, sito nel quartiere E.U.R. , si trova sulla via Cristoforo Colombo. Bella da vedere

This monument that all young Romans have seen once, probably without knowing its history, is of great relevance every time on the occasion of the Formula E Race that takes place in that area.
In fact this year Formula E returns to the streets of Rome at the beginning of April 2022, leading to numerous road closures and traffic diversions in the city's southern EUR district.
Located in the center of the square named after Guglielmo Marconi, right in the center of the very busy and fast traffic, two way Via Cristoforo Colombo.
It is a different obelisk from those one would expect to see in Rome.
The obelisk is built in concrete and covered with 92 panels of Carrara marble, made by the sculptor Arturo Dazzi.
The work was created for the 1942 International Exhibition of Rome, in the EUR district of Rome, but it was only completed in 1959 and inaugurated for the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.
It is therefore a rather modern obelisk, although its conception and part of the construction began at the end of the thirties of the last century.
This white monument, 45 meters high, is so called because it was built as a tribute to Italian inventor and electrical engineer Guglielmo Marconi, known for his creation of a wireless telegraph system.
After the war, which had interrupted the construction of many buildings in the area, the interrupted works resumed and also the obelisk was completed as it can be seen today,
with the marble panels with bas-reliefs relating to Marconi's life and his invention.
It is very interesting to see, even from the car.
Over the years it has become a symbol, because it is considered a point of reference and a meeting place for the Romans of the EUR district.

Chi ha varcato la soglia degli "anta" e ha avuto la fortuna di trovarsi da giovane in un gruppo numeroso, ricorderà che ci davamo appuntamento sotto l’Obelisco dell’EUR per decidere come passare la serata.
Dolci ricordi che si perdono nella notte dei tempi!
Il monumento è l'asse prospettico della viabilità di quartiere, e ben si inserisce nel contesto dell'area che Mussolini ha pensato per l'Esposizione Universale del '42.
Benché sia stato completato molti anni dopo, io ne riconosco i meriti e le virtù, poiché in questa città abbiamo alcuni esempi più recenti che sono un’ignominia.
La stele è un omaggio all'antenna radio di Guglielmo Marconi, uno dei più grandi inventori dell'età moderna. Le 92 tavole allegoriche sovrapposte, scolpite nel marmo di Carrara, raffigurano le imprese del famoso fisico italiano.
Mi piace veramente.

Oltre ai famosi obelischi provenienti dall’antico Egitto, a Roma si possono ammirare anche altri obelischi di epoca moderna come questo dell’Eur. Costruito nel secolo scorso, a cavallo della seconda guerra mondiale, questo monumento che vuole celebrare la figura di Guglielmo Marconi, è costituito da una struttura a forma piramidale in cemento armato, rivestita di lastre di marmo di Carrara decorate con altorilievi. Collocato al centro dell’omonima piazza che si apre lungo la via Cristoforo Colombo, è uno dei punti di riferimento per chi si muove nel quartiere.

Обелиск установлен на одноименной площади в честь известного итальянского изобретателя и общественного деятеля (новейший телеграф Маркони был на "Титанике"). Он создан в 1959 году скульптором Артуро Дацци (Dazzi) из железобетона и облицован 92-мя плитами белого каррарского мрамора с барельефами. Высота обелиска 45 метров. На фоне сине-голубого римского неба смотрится очень эффектно. Рядом много чего есть интересного посмотреть.

È un riferimento cardine, oltre ad essere il centro del quartiere dell'EUR è anche un comodo luogo di appuntamento per la posizione e la riconoscibilità; CI VEDIAMO ALL'OBELISCO! ...non puoi sbagliare, come quello che un tempo era il mitico PALO OSRAM al centro del piazzale antistante la stazione Termini, centinaia di persone si danno appuntamento qui grazie alla sua comoda posizione ed alla possibilità di accostarsi facilmente con la macchina.
Artisticamente non è un granché, resta comunque in linea con lo stile del quartiere ed al centro della via Cristoforo Colombo fa la sua figura.

Posto al centro di piazza Marconi nel quartiere E.U.R. L'obelisco, decorato con altorilievi in marmo, costruito da Arturo Dazzi è un omaggio all'Inventore della radio della quale ricorda un'antenna. Iniziato nel 1939 fu ultimato solo vent'anni più tardi a causa della guerra.
