Poco prima di arrivare al Baldacchino del Bernini sulla destra nella navata centrale si trova questa statua bronzea con San Pietro seduto sulla cattedra. San Pietro ha nella mano sinistra le chiavi del Regno, mentre con l'altra sta benedicendo. Sembra da attribuirsi ad uno scultore del '200 Arnolfo di Cambio.

Πολύ όμορφο άγαλμα μέσα στην Βασιλική του Αγίου Πέτρου. Σίγουρα θα το δείτε μέσα στην εκκλησία. Η είσοδος σε αυτήν είναι δωρεάν.

Non capisco perché si debba aver paura di dirlo: questa statua è semplicemente brutta. Avrà un valore religioso ma esteticamente è un cazzotto a un occhio!

Magnifique statue ! On ne peut la toucher, seulement l'admirer et c'est déjà beaucoup! Il est vrai qu'elle est plus petite que je l'imaginais, mais cela ne gâche en rien sa beauté.

The famous bronze statue of St. Peter is placed against the pillar of St. Longinus, above an alabaster base that was executed in 1757 by Carlo Marchionni. In this statue St. Peter is seated on a marble see , dressed with the philosophical stole, with his left hand holding the keys close to his chest and the right raised in the act of blessing. His right foot protrudes from the previously mentioned base. Pilgrims who come to the Basilica traditionally touch and kiss its foot. In the Middle Ages pilgrims who reached Rome, touched and kissed the foot of the statue and prayed to St. Peter asking that he be merciful and open the gates of heaven for them if they died during the pilgrimage.

It is nice to be able to touch this bronze piece. I have heard of it being cordoned off but it wasn't when we were there. I wasn't overly impressed with it, just average.

La puedes encontrar en el ultimo de los pilares a mano derecha.
Fue consttruida el el siglo XIII y en ella aparece San Pedro, sentado en el trono.
Se nota fácilmente la devoción que muchos fieles tienen a su persona ( o a la tradición) . Puedes ver cono el pie - hecho de bronce, como el resto de la estatua – esta desapareciendo, desgastado por los besos y las caricias de la gente

Le vatican et la statue de St-Pierre sont à voir une fois dans une vie pour tout chrétien et même pour toute personne. Le seul hic c'est qu'il y a tellement de gens que c'est très difficile de ressentir une émotion pieuse. De notre côté, nous avons été beaucoup plus marqué spirituellement par notre visite de la cathédrale St-Marc de Venise.

This statue of St. Peter was cordoned off when we visited St. Peter’s. It is a bronze statue portraying him as he gives a blessing holding in his left hand the keys of the kingdom. The statue rests upon an alabaster base with his right foot, extended past the base, which is worn thin from the rubbings of devout pilgrims. Behind the statue is what looks like a brocaded cloth but is actually a mosaic
