Palazzo Bianco, Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Doria Tursi include a tour of what was the sixteenth-century Strada Nuova and is now Via Garibaldi, recognized as a World Heritage Site. Here are collected some of the greatest artistic expressions of Genoa. At Palazzo Bianco you can admire the paintings of the Genoese school of the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, at Palazzo Rosso the large collection of paintings of the Brignole Sale family (including Durer, Guercino, Veronese and Van Dyck) as well as the terrace with magnificent views of the rooftops of Genoa and at Palazzo Tursi the work of Antonio Canova "The Penitent Magdalene".

The Renaissance and Baroque Via Garibadi houses three palaces and is the largest museum of ancient art in Genoa
Palazzo Rosso is a "house-museum" with the charm of the seventeenth-century mansion that still houses the Art Collections and historic furnishings of the Brignole-Sale family. Do not miss the apartments of Anton Giulio II Brignole-Sale al Mezzanine and the top floor of the Dependencies renovated by Franco Albini to make it the home of the then director of the Civic Museums, Caterina Marcenaro.
Palazzo Bianco is the main art gallery in Liguria, with masterpieces of the Ligurian painting school from the sixteenth century, but also Flemish, Spanish and Italian
Do not miss the penitent Magdalene
by Antonio Canova, Marble and gilded bronze. Canova on the borders between painting and sculpture: from the smoothness of Maddalena's body to the rough and unrefined base, from the gilded bronze insert of the cross to the realism of tears and the flowing hair that Canova treated with wax mixed with sulfur, to restore its color.
The new link between Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Tursi crosses the site where the church of the destroyed convent of San Francesco di Castelletto stood,
Palazzo Doria-Tursi, which now also houses the Town Hall, was born as the largest private residence built in the city in the so-called “Century of the Genoese”. Present in addition to 18th century painting, also many works of decorative and applied art: tapestries, Genoese ceramics, coins, weights and official measures of the ancient Republic of Genoa. Nicolò Paganini's historical violins are also preserved here, including the famous "Cannone Guarnieri".

We headed to Via Garibaldi using a taxi from where our ship was docked. We easily got a taxi at the terminal. The cost was 20 Euros.
All long Via Garibaldi we saw the massive buildings, many with their lobbies opened with displays. We were unsure how to get to the actual museums we were seeking. We just kept walking. Finally, we came to Palazzo Rossa. There was a staircase, so we started climbing. At the second level we encountered some galleries, but we didn't have a ticket. So down we went.
Again, along the street we encountered more buildings. Finally, we found a sign that said tickets at the bookstore. We searched for "the bookstore". And finally, we got to what I would describe as the museum shop where we purchased tickets.
So back we went. The Bianco and Rosso museums do have elevators tucked away. With the ticket taker/guard we really had to insist we wanted to use them.
At the Palazzo Bianco there are several rooms restored to their 17th century style. It was very decorative and interesting wandering through the displays. What a way to live. My husband's favorite piece was the bathtub.
Next, we went to Palazzo Rossa. There was a temporary display of period costumes that was small but interesting. In addition, to clothing it included fans, shoes and hats. There was also gallery after gallery of art from some familiar artists and others unknown to me. There are chairs in a few of the gallerias.
We decided we had gotten our money's worth with just the two museums but there is another. Be sure to prepare for a full day of art viewing.
I am so glad we did this while in Genoa as it gives you a glimpse into the splendor of Genoa's history.

The collection of palaces that comprise this museum complex have interesting architecture and some period furnishings. The main attraction is the art from 15th to 17th centuries. The pathway to see art is complicated but the museum staff can point the way. The audio guide is very helpful and eorth the extra 5 Euros.

The museums of Strada Nuova (Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Doria Tursi) are an unmissable stop to discover the city.
These are 3 museum structures, two of which (Bianco and Doria) communicate with each other, where frescoes, objects, furnishings and paintings of fine workmanship and of notable historical importance are exhibited in noble homes.
Among these I highlight the works of Veronese, Caravaggio, Lippi, Strozzi, Guercino, Durer, Ludovico Carracci, Giambono, Van Dyck, Rubens and many artists, as well as the Cannone, the famous violin that belonged to the talented Niccolò Paganini.
Dedicate a day to discover these three wonders!
P.S.: The cumulative entrance ticket is included in the Genoa Museum Card €15/24 hours which I recommend, because it includes most of the main city attractions.

A 9 euro ticket for two palaces:
The Palazzo Rosso presents a beautiful collection of paintings, it was also inhabited and we visit the different rooms with their furniture, some of which comes from the Hôtel Matignon which was the Parisian residence of the owners, their wall frescoes, their gilded doors, their mirrors 4 meters high, their painted ceilings, their marble or inlaid floors. It is magic.
The Palazzo Bianco presents a collection of paintings, lace, clothing, ceramics and a room dedicated to Paganini.
You should allow 2-3 hours for the double visit

An exciting experience for lovers of history and art: unmissable works in period buildings perfectly restored and made accessible to the general public, collections of paintings and objects of immense value... A true pleasure for the eyes and spirit, also thanks to the highly qualified and competent guides.

I went there when I had already seen other museums in the city and I was objectively very tired, the red building in particular is very large and on several floors, so despite the lift it is better to visit them when you are at maximum energy.
If you can only see one, Palazzo Rosso is definitely the one I recommend.
They are included in the €15 daily museum card

In Via Garibaldi there are three palaces, which we visited with a single ticket of €15 for 24 hours - an easy and economical solution, since all three are next to each other. In the Palazzo Bianco he didn't have many works, he deserved a Caravaggio and the Spanish Baroque painters. Underground we arrived at the Tursi Palace, which also houses the town hall. There is the collection of coins and of course Paganini's rooms, with tributes and objects from his life, and of course his favorite violin, the so-called "cannon". After a break we went across to Palazzo Rosso, which had clearly more interesting artwork, Italian painters, Dürer, of course the painted mezzanine with the bedroom and what really impressed us was the top floor, with the 1950's apartment - rare to see installations and furniture of this era in an art museum! The publishing house and the shop are between the three buildings, in Palazzo Rosso there is also a cafe. Well worth the visit, it's not the Vatican or the Uffizi, but they are very worthwhile art museums!

Grazie

A Genova i parcheggi sono ben indicati, in quanto sono merce rara. Vicino al teatro Carlo Felice puoi trovarne sicuramente uno. Purtroppo sono cari
