I will start by saying I have a fear of heights but also an adventurous spirit. Overall I had a wonderful experience & our guide Danny was wonderful. Once I booked this experience I almost backed out several times. I was most nervous about the portion where you climb on the rock face and can see a 1/2 mile down. That part WAS truly terrifying. It lasted exactly 8 minutes of our 3.5hr experience. There is nothing physically hard about the Via Ferrata at all but the bridge & the rock face were mentally hard for me. After we were so happy and proud and ate pizza at the restaurant near the finish location. **Buy gloves at the meet location before you go ($30). You’ll be happy you did, when you are climbing around the rock face you have to hold onto the cable the whole time.

Exciting and thrilling with amazing views. Not necessarily for those afraid of heights. Scaling cliffs, walking a tightrope, climbing down ladders that are sometimes inverted slightly, and walking across a plank like bridge over a waterfall. Amazing views and thrilling experience.

Our family of 3 (17m, 55f, 57m) did the via ferrata this month. We (50 year olds are are in reasonable shape). We reserved the day before at Intersport in murren. They did run out of spaces for walk-ins. Rented equipment for 30 franc. You have to have hiking shoes or you will need to rent them. MAKE SURE YOU GET/BRING GLOVES! it will make grabbing the cable so much easier.
It was spectacular! As long as you clip in and keep careful and are NOT afraid of heights or swaying it is very doable for us middle age folks - our thighs were sore the next day but during the 3 hr hike it was not too taxing. If you can do a 3 hr hike in general you can do this. You don’t need a huge amount of upper strength. The 2 cable and 1 suspension bridges at the end do sway a little but do feel sturdy. The only part we felt a little more scary was a series of ladders (about 6) where you are leaning out and having to grip on with your hands. The ladders bars are not all connected so look where you place your hands!

We almost didn't do this, as it had been raining a few days before. Keep in mind they won't allow you to do this route if its wet. The place, the views, the challenge, the thrill, everything is amazing and well worth it. Do it

If your brave it’s a stunning route with a few nice coffee breaks the views over the valley are amazing .

Une très belle via ferrata, sensations assurées , de magnifiques vue sur la vallée.
Mal grès une accessibilité technique et physique , elle reste une activité psychologique accrue et pas forcément recommandée à tous , et attention pour les très jeune enfant
Un équipement adapté est plus que nécessaire ( chaussure de marche , baudrier et mousquetons / longe et casque ) , il est possible de louer ces équipements à l’intersport sur place
Compter entre 2h et 4h pour les moins sportifs
Mais vous en garder un super souvenir ( comme nous )

My husband and I (in our 50s in reasonable shape) decided to challenge ourselves by doing this during our vacation in Switzerland. Since this was out of our comfort zone, we did it with a guided group (7 people, one guide). It was a highlight of our trip! The Lauterbrunnen valley is beautiful, and to look straight down into it from so high up was awe-inspiring.We felt safe the whole time, and would feel comfortable doing it again without a guide now that we know what to expect. The most harrowing part for me was a long ladder towards the end that was set slightly more than vertical (so you were leaning a little bit backwards as you climbed down.) Good shoes are a must, as you are stepping on near-vertical rocks, ladder rungs, and metal bars. I wore "hiking" style tennis shoes, and my husband wore hiking boots. We both did fine, but I think I would go with boots next time.If you are at all adventurous, i highly recommend the Via Ferrata!

We did this as part of our stay in murren … we did it without a guide and there were parts that were pretty scary! We hired gear from inter sport in Lauterbrunnen because they had ran out in murren. It would be wise to check before hand if you are staying in murren as you would need to go back down.
I was really worried about the wire bridges because they looked scary but they were actually the easiest thing for us! We just picked a point in the distance and just went for it!
Don’t look down and you will be fine!

Both Rory and James were excellent guides with the patience of saints! Would highly recommend this activity for anyone looking to challenge themselves and try something different.

Incroyable expérience ! J’appréhendais beaucoup ma peur du vide mais cette Via Ferrata est très accessible niveau technique, une petite partie peut effrayer les personnes sensibles au vertige. Mise à part cela elle convient à tous niveaux. Gare à la cascade de la fin qui vous trempera complètement, pensez à prendre un sac étanche.

Looking to travel to Interlaken at the end of Sept by myself. Really want to do the Via Ferrata end of only done one other Via Ferrata previously. Do any tour companies typically run daily tours that a single person can get in on without paying the crazy private guide price? Everything I'm seeing on the Outdoor Interlaken site is minimum of 4 or crazy price.

We recommend waiting at the Mountain Hostel in Gimmelwald. It's a cosy place with a beer garden :)

Hi,
My 9 year old daughter is very interested in this hike. Are kids allowed for this? If yes, what is the price for kids?
Also we’re in Interlaken starting tomorrow. How far in advance does this need to be booked?

Odds are the trail will not be open yet. You can check the website but last year the via ferrata opened on June 15
