A grand ascending walk was enjoyable in the lovely conditions. It was great seeing the battlements hoving into view as the apex approach.
A very interesting Archaeological Museum is worth spending time again. Containing numerous artefacts spanning millennia it gives an engaging account of the local history.
Strolling around the complex is rewarding, including with fine panoramas across the pastures and cityscapes.

This castle is about a 10-minute walk from the Collegiata Square. A path took with good walking shoes (no heels) or sneakers. from the castle there are beautiful views of the city and the fortress on the hill facing. Wheelchair access is quite limited

Interessante poter camminare in questo particolare castello.
Il secondo in lista dopo aver visitato l'altro in cima a Bellinzona.
Il museo è piccolino ma vale la pena salire fino alla cima per godere della veduta.

Lovely old castle perched on top of a hillside. You can reach the castle by the road but there’s no parking. We walked from the city center and it’s a hard walk up a lot of cobbled stairs and not for the out of shape. But once you get there it’s quite beautiful. According to the tourist info the site has been inhabited for 12,000 years. The castle offers great views of the city and surrounding countryside. It’s worth the stop.

Although I didn’t go in this castle, I feel qualified to make a couple of useful comments. The attraction manager answered a couple of engineering related questions about the amount of comfort in these castles. I asked about two important engineering systems, to include the method of heating for some sort of oven in the kitchen and the method of water distribution, most likely from a well. The castle manager told me that, although the main castle didn’t show this, the Montebello Castle exhibited it. I think it’s interesting to see the advancement, in not only these two systems, but also the method by which to escape the castle during a siege for supplies replenishment.

Por su ubicación tiene una vista privilegiada de la región solo imaginar cómo sería la vida en sus días de plenitud. Tiene un parque interesante en la entrada para disfrutar si el día está lindo con su bosque de Castaños

Best views of all the three castles in Bellinzona. We took the Postbus from the train station to the castle which avoided most of the trek up the hill.

Se vi piacciono i castelli e siete in vacanza in Svizzera, non perdetevi il castello più bello di Bellinzona. Ne ho visto tanti nella mia vita ma questo è davvero spettacolare. Conservato perfettamente. É il classico castello medievale con fossato, ponte levatoio, feritoie, torri e un muro di cinta lunghissimo. Davvero bellissimo

Un luogo non solo ricco di storia ma anche molto bello da vedere e da esplorare, tenuto benissimo ed in grado di regalare non poche suggestioni. I cortili interni si visitano liberamente con accesso anche ai camminamenti sulle mura. Si paga invece (devo dire profumatamente) l'accesso all'interno del maschio centrale dove del maniero originale non è rimasto praticamente nulla, neppure i pavimenti, ma è presente un museo sulla storia del castello, nonché sulla storia antica e la preistoria della regione. Si tratta di un'esposizione didattica, con numerosi cartelli e schermi con filmati, anche a cartone animato, quindi visita molto raccomandata alle famiglie con bambini.

yes you may. take a train from Lugano to Bellinzona. takes about 20mins. there are many trains to and fro Bellinzona daily. from Bellinzona train station, there are 3 castles that you can visit. all can be covered in a day.
