Questo edificio storico è carino, ma niente di eccezionale rispetto ad altri edifici di questo tipo. Se siete in zona una capatina è d'obbligo sicuramente. Non vi aspettate di vedere una cattedrale come a Roma naturalmente! Buona visita a voi popolo di TripAdvisor.

An attractive enough building with the usual high levels of roman catholic art. If you've seen lots of such churches in Italy you won't see much to surprise you. Personally we much preferred Santa Maria delle Angioli around the corner. But Lugano's historic centre isn't large so it's worth a minute or two or your time if you're nearby.

La chiesa è edificata su un cimitero (film horror...) nel IX secolo ma il suo aspetto attuale si deve a rimaneggiamenti basso medievali e barocchi (visibili su alcune colonne gli affreschi precedenti, ora coperti da quelli "nuovi").
Davvero particolari, "sopra la testa del prete", gli angeli che scendono dal cielo ed entrano da un foro nella cupola.
Anche l'esterno merita uno sguardo, con le sue rappresentazioni antropomorfe grottesche e i suoi animali da culto pagano (satiri, capri, draghi, grifoni), tutti rigorosamente in pietra bianca.
Nota di colore: è stata fatta cattedrale alla dine del 1800, quindi circa mille anni dopo che sia stata edificata.
Davvero particolari, "sopra la testa del prete", gli angeli che scendono dal cielo ed entrano da un foro nella cupola.

Bella chiesa in tutti i suoi spazio, davvero una bella visita, interno ricco siamo stati molto contenti, tenuta bene....

Ich habs nicht so mit den Kirchen. Die Cattedrale die San Lorenzo ist aber sicher einen Besuch wert. Etwas gar pompös zwar, aber insgesamt doch sehr eindrücklich.

Herrlich oberhalb der Altstadt gelegen - am Ende eines anstrengenden, steilen Aufstiegs liegt diese sehenswerte Kirche. Herrliche Malereien,

die Kathedrale bietet eine wunderbare Fotokulisse unterhalb des Bahnhofs. Es lohnt sich, ganz nahe die Details der Fassade wie die Rosette anzuschauen. Die Funicularhaltestelle ist nur wenige Minuten entfernt.

La cattedrale è raggiungibile apiedi in pochi minuti dalla stazione di Lugano, oppure tramite la funicolare che ha una fermata intermedia (su richiesta) proprio davanti al'ingresso. Dal piazzale si può godere di una bella vista sul lago

Built in the High Middle Ages, this church was rebuilt during the 15th century.
It has an imposing façade in white stone, a beautiful main portal with a large rose window above it.
The interiors is divided into three naves, it has a painted ceiling, several side chapels and a few frescoes.
Worth visiting, if you are in the area.

I was just passing by this cathedral and decided to go in. What a nice surprise. It is a very nice church inside. Lots of art like Italian churches and beutifully designed. Definetely worth a visit
