To be fair, half of the exhibits were missing or they were awaiting a new exhibition, but our trip here was something of a waste of time with so little to see to justify the taxi fare over.
The art on show is eclectic to say the least, but it doesn't quite work having so many disperate works of art together in such close proximity.
There are one or two highlights - I won't spoil the surprise, but don't feel bad if you don't make it over.

The exhibition (Rothschild) was a disappointment (too small, not enough big names for my taste) but the own collection is superb, with a fantastic Meunier painting for exemple. Too bad they don't have a secure cloakroom, and not enough lockers.

De originele tentoonstelling omtrent de Rothschild-dames heeft mij naar het museum gelokt. Niet alleen de tentoonstelling was de moeite waard, maar ook het museum an sich en de unieke locatie. Ook het cafetaria en de museumshop zijn een aanrader.

Mooie expositie die de verzamelkennis en -kunde van deze familie goed in beeld bracht. Interessant om te zien dat niet alleen beeldende kunst werd verzameld, maar ook toegepaste kunstvoorwerpen (luciferdoosjes, pijpen etc)

Great rainy day or sunny day activity! The permanent and rotating exhibitions are not so overwhelming that you cannot do them both in a couple of hours. The prices are very reasonable and the staff helpful. Nestled in a pretty park, the museum is accessible by foot from the main part of the city.

Een prachtig museum dat alleen al door zijn unieke ligging op een eiland in de Maas al de moeite van het bezoeken waard is. Een nieuwe loopbrug voor voetgangers is een prachtige binnenkomer voor het parkachtige eiland waarop het museum ligt. De huidige expositie van kunstverzamelingen van de familie Rothschild is heel interessant en de 13 euro entree zeker wel waard. Jammer alleen dat veel van de grote ramen in de aangebouwde zaal die uitzicht geeft op de Maas, nu met rolgordijnen waren bedekt, om bepaalde kunst tegen licht te beschermen. Maar van een groot deel van de prachtige nieuwe aanbouw boden de grote vensters nog steeds een blik op de rivier, die rondom stroomt, bijna alsof je op een boot zit.
Het parkje is ook de moeite, met een rosarium en bustes van bekende Luikenaren.
Heerlijke lunchgerechten in het museumcafé en een fijne winkel waar je tal van boeken en geschenken rondom kunst kan krijgen.
Tip voor dichtbij parkeren: parkeerplaats bij de Delhaize supermarkt vlakbij, 41 Rue Fragnee. De loopbrug naar het eiland is dan ongeveer 200 meter lopen. Voor wie met de trein wil: Luik-Guillemins is slechts op 700 meter afstand.

Collection permanente intéressante qui permet de survoler la peinture flamande et belge (mais pas que) de la Renaissance à nos jours.
Nombreux QR codes pour accéder à des explications claires.
Très beau bâtiment qui vaut le détour ne serait-ce que pour son architecture.
Comptez 1h de visite pour le fond permanent.

Wij kwamen maar een half uur voor sluitingstijd in het museum aan maar dankzij het vriendelijk personeel konden wij toch nog de permanente collectie bezoeken. Super service dus en echt de moeite.

I didn't pick the best day as there was a strike affecting government employees - as a result only part of the museum was open, but it was really excellent. The building is a mix of the original museum and a modern extension with a lot of viewing space. The exhibition itself (Costa Lefkochir) was very good and the works come over much better is real life than in photographs.

Mooi gelegen museum in gelijknamig park. De permanente tentoonstelling was erg interessant in tegenstelling tot de exhibities, maar dat is een kwestie van smaak. De inrichting van het museum is aan vernieuwing toe wat mij betreft: Het ziet er vrij doods uit en ongezellig licht en kleursetting. Het café was open maar er leek niemand in te werken en er was ook niets of niemand. Jammer dat ze niet meer weten te maken van dit museum want het gebouw en de locatie geven daar wel kansen toe.
