Dit restaurant bevindt zich niet in het centrum van de stad maar is de moeite om langs te komen. Bij mooi weer kan je op de terras zitten. Je hoeft niet te reserveren. Als er voorstellingen zijn in de centrale is er wel een beperkte menu zoals tapas. Er zijn cocktails te krijgen zowel alcohol als alcoholvrije. De soepen met brood zijn ruime porties en zijn ruim voldoende voor een lunch. Het is een wereldkeuken met een vaste kaart zoals lamsstoofpotje van Oman of een syrische wrap. daarnaast zijn er dagsuggesties op het bord. de prijs is zeer laag in vergelijking met andere restaurants. zeer vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. echt een aanrader !

Prima plaats om even na te kaarten na een bezoek aan het Lichtfestival: supervriendelijke bediening, royale porties tegen een schappelijke prijs en tof concept. Op simpel verzoek kregen wij een ruime kom heel lekkere nootjes, kraakvers, bij ons drankje. We vonden die nootjes niet terug op de rekening... Wij komen wél terug!

Het is de moeite om deze gebouw te bezoeken, zeker voor mensen die interesse hebben in; geschiedenis, erfgoed en industrie.
Ook de muziek demonstratie was van topniveau.
Naast muzikale optredens, worden er in het jaar hier muzieklessen gegeven.
Jammer dat het zo ver is voor mij om tot hier te komen, anders ging ik wekelijk langs.

The restaurant here is subsidized so staff can be trained for new careers. That means it is really a good value for Ghent. You must reserve as there is only one seating and spaces are limited. The menu has a vegetarian and a non-vegetarian option and is posted on line so you know before you go. We had cheese croquets and shrimp croquets, a risotto with asparagus and salmon, and a decadent dessert of a white chocolate egg filled with raspberry sorbet with a chocolate cookie generously topped with chocolate fudge beside it. With a glass of white wine each, our total was 27 Euros. Food was good; language skills were minimal; service was with a smile. We hear lunch is an even better deal but does not include dessert.

This intercultural center is housed in an old electricity plant north of the city center, one block away of a famous Ghent hostel. Their musical programming serves dishes from all over the world with a focus on the Middle East, Turkey, Kurdistan, the Magreb countries and Eastern Europe. Even argentinian tango is not forgotten. We witnessed a concert by a palestinian group. Entrance fees are always very modest, 10 to 15 euro. The concerts take place in the engine room.
When it comes to food, you have to be in the former offices on the first floor, however they remind me more of classrooms in old schools. An impressive staircase with forged iron and colourful tiles led us to the restaurant. It's far from the tourist cuisine in the center or the upscale restaurants in other parts of Ghent. That saturday, we had a souflé of celeriac and parsnip. The main dish was chicken, rabbit or tofu with a potato gratin. Although we had a reservation, and were there at 6.30 pm, there was no more rabbit left. The dessert was a huge portion of Apfelstrudel. The kitchen closes at 7.30, rather unusual early but very practical for the ones going to a concert. Reservation is absolutely recommended as they have limited opening hours and days and a social function. Most of the staff consists of new Belgians, learning the job, but also introducing local cuisine and traditions from their remote home countries to their new homeland.
Conclusion: When in search of culture and food from other parts of the world, this is in Ghent a good starting point.
