I couldn't get Uber or anything like that, and took a taxi with one bus, but it was over €60 round trip. I don't think it's a particularly bothersome place to go if you're stopping by on tour or not. It may be good for people who don't go to Europe very often or like castles, but it may not be very good for people who travel frequently or are used to seeing this kind of thing, as it is inconvenient to access.

Really a sensational stop. We arrived late afternoon as all the day trippers were leaving and spent the night. We practically had the village to ourselves. Enjoyed the castle, the excellent views, the narrow cobblestone streets, a priceless sunset and wonderful dinner. HIghly recommend an overnight stay if you want to enjoy natural beauty away from throngs of tourists.

A very beautiful place with an imposing castle that has been well restored. Exceptional view into the distance. Definitely worth a detour

When driving up to the town, it’s obvious that it’s an incredible place, but it’s not even close to the sheer beauty that it holds inside the town. For only a few euros, you can gain access to the entire castle, which is huge and has some incredible walls that you can walk along, also turrets, old cannons, an underground cistern, and two huge towers. Definitely worth a visit!

Quando planejava ir a Marvão, nem imaginava o quanto gostaria. É linda, aconchegante, respiramos sua história, contemplamos sua vistas.

Located at the top of the hill you can’t miss this castle. It’s an absolute gem. Before you enter there is a sense of wonder and real history. You can understand the strategic importance of the castle with Spain visible in the distance.
Prior to the entrance there is a gorgeous little garden area, very well kept with beautiful butterflies hopping from one lavender stem to another. From here ascend the stone path up to the entrance. It is not suitable for wheelchair users and parents with buggies will struggle. Just inside the entrance is the ticket office. At time of writing it cost 1euro 50cent per adult.
There is a free information leaflet (different languages), and off you go. It just goes on and on. You can walk up on the ramparts and stand in the guard posts. Health & Safety is not high on the agenda and there are no guard rails so watch your step. It is however fabulous and the views are stunning. A leisurely walk around takes about an hour or so. There are toilets onsite and a small shop. Overall an excellent experience.

Burgo Medieval.
Dentro da vila encontra o Castelo, o Museu Municipal (Igreja devasta Maria) ,Porta de Ródão ,Igreja do Espírito Santo, Convento e Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Estrela , lojinhas de artesanatos etc.
O passeio leva de 2 a 3 horas.
Na vila tem restaurante, cafés, farmácia e é bem divertido andar pelas ruas estreitas e caminhar pela Fortificação.
Quem estiver de Van ou Ônibus de turismo tem que andar a pé pela vila.
Na entrada tem banheiros públicos.

This was our first stop from crossing into Portugal from Spain - and great opening
for our trip indeed.
The castle look very small from afar - but once you park the car outside the city
walls and start climbing it become more amazing in every step up.
We climbed to the castle via the walls - not via the streets ( those we used to walk
down ). It nice steep climbing and with some beautiful pictures to take.
The map at the entrance is very detailed and informative.

Ainda estou em dúvida se esta avaliação diz respeito à vila de Marvão na sua totalidade ou só ao castelo e sua envolvente. O castelo altaneiro incrustado na rocha, é pela sua configuração, situação e majestade, um dos mais bonitos do país.

Très beau château situé dans la ville fortifiée de Marvao. Il est construit sur la roche avec une belle vue sur la vallée. En prenant votre billet vous pouvez également le prendre pour une entrée pour le musée qui est intéressant à visiter. Vous découvrirez une belle salle ou se trouvait la citerne pour garder l'eau potable. Montez sur la muraille et les tours pour découvrir le paysage.

I can't find what hours the castle is open and the fee for getting into it? We will be arriving that afternoon very late and I would like to be able to walk the wall and watch the sunset. Can anyone answer me about entry?
