Some nice trees, but very low on flowers.. I wouldn't recommend it strongly except that it's in the middle of Príncipe Real, which is a fabulous area, and it's not expensive.

Zoals eerdere reviewers aangaven.
Slecht onderhouden en vergane glorie.
De historische kas is al lang onder constructie en zal de komende jaren ook nog wel dicht blijven voor onderhoud !
Dit wordt niet gemeld bij de kassa ! Jammer , want de € 4,- is knap betaald voor een park als deze !

The garden is very nice, manageable, but for plant fans a really nice place to breathe. From fawns in the trees, chickens with their babies or purring cats, you can also discover the animal world here in miniature. There are plenty of benches to enjoy the greenery again in the shade.
The only unpleasant thing is the still present colonial history, which is still visible at some of the gates.

Un jardín pegado al palacio presidencial de Belem,
El jardín está absolutamente descuidado, invernaderos en ruinas que dan una imagen penosa, sin ningún mantenimiento,... ¡Y el lugar tiene grandes posibilidades solo con mantenerlo!
Lo mejor, la paz del lugar (no entra nadie y no me extraña) y los patos, gansos, pavos que viven allí, con sus polluelos. Tuvimos la suerte de ver varios pavos reales con la cola desplegada en abanico y persiguiendo a las pavas.

This botanical garden provides an oasis of peace to shelter from the hordes of tourists visiting Jeronimos monastery.
With a somewhat decadent air, it brings together a very rich collection of plant species and magical "rooms" that post you in an intimate dimension.

A rating of 2 is a bit generous of me. Except for an area consisting of lawn, agapanthus, and bromeliads - plants found in ordinary people's gardens in much of the world - the botanical garden is in terrible disrepair. Specimen plants have been squeezed out by weeds, ponds are full of algae and have no fish or working fountains, and the walkways, stairs, and buildings are crumbling. Explaining away the decaying infrastructure by calling them 'ruins' is specious and certainly does not excuse allowing weeds to choke the small percentage of truly tropical plants. I say 'doesn't excuse' because whoever is in charge chose to spend tens of thousands of euros on dozens of two to five meter tall 'Alice in Wonderland' characters made of cloth covered wire frames - money that could have been used to rehabilitate at least some of the garden. My rating of 2 instead of 1 reflects the break my wife and I enjoyed from the throngs of tourists at the nearby monuments and museums while in the garden.

We were so very lucky! When we stopped by the garden they were having exhibits taken straight from Alice through the Looking Glass (Alice in Wonderland) all throughout the park! No matter where you turned you unearthed another bit of the Lewis Carroll story, so very realistically demonstrated! From the Queen of Hearts to the Cheshire Cat (who kept appearing and disappearing) to the Mad Hatter to the Jabberwocky! All in all it was a pleasure walking through one of my childhood favorites!

J´ai juste mis horrible parce qu´après être monté à la 2eme entrée il s´avère que le parc est FERMÉ. Il n´y a AUCUNE INDICATION. Apparemment FERMÉ les week-ends pour le moment... Dommage

DREADFUL! An absolute waste of time and money. Very poorly-maintained and stocked, very few plants and trees of interest, and incredibly rude, surly, unhelpful staff at the entrance. Although, if I had to work there and mug people for 4 Euros to get in, I'd probably be rude, surly and unhelpful too.
The best thing about it was a grumpy peacock who took great delight in screaming at everybody that walked past him.

The trees and green are nice in the center of the city. It is peaceful and there are many benches on which to sit and contemplate nature. The trees are from around the world which makes for a more interesting visit.

Il y a un arbre dont j’aimerais connaître le nom. Il est à côté d’un lac, et à un tronc qui s’elargi en bas. On dirait une sorte de palmier ou de baobab, mais ses « cheveux » / feuilles sont tout ébouriffés.. Merci, ( c’ est un défi sur facebook...)
