Staying at the Pousada is a great experience, lovely view from the dining room. There are some nice restaurants in the town, lots of bars and tourists shops. A place to walk around but not much to do. Nice churches and a couple of museums.

Existem restaurantes no interior da muralha, a vila fica no interior da muralha. Castelo foi convertido em pousada.

HI Margie As you come from Lisbon the bus will leave you in the parking area specially designed for. As you are going a little bit backward you'll find the TOWN'S GATE (nicely decorated with ceramic tiles - azulejos). To the right you'll see a little square (for taxi), a bench and a fountain with fresh water and the terrace of the Josefa Albergaria Hotel. Once that you passed under the gate you are in front of two streets: ~ Right - as you look you'll see a cafeteria (Marion, or something like this) and a small dark pink tower gate that belongs to the same cafeteria ~ Left (in front a white house with the edges painted in yellowish brown and a column) a white house that has blue edges. The left street I recommend it because is just following it, staight ahead. On the way you'll see: right side (a chocolateria), left side a Bougonvilea Tree (red) linked by the house, restaurants (right side), souvenir shop (left sine). Opposing this souvenir shop there is a parking area and a church. From here only 200 metres and you'll find the porch that leads you to reception (terrace to the right). Also on the way you'll see the police / firesquad station, workshop (left side) and a beautiful house with an open porch covered by Bouguonvilea (right side) and in front a church that actually is a bookstore. From here to the right you'll see the arrow sign towards reception. Do not be afraid of getting up to the citadel, it is easy and the street I recommend it is a staight line. You'll enjoy every second spent in here. Dan
