A manutenção da Catedral é péssima. Ha pinturas do tecto que quase desapareceram. É lamentável como a Igreja deixa chegar acesta situação com tanto dinheiro e isenção de impostos!!!!!

Preciosa iglesia donde se puede observar distintos estilos arquitectónicos. Parece una clase de arquitectura. Muy bonito claustro.

The Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral is located right in the middle of downtown Lamego. It was founded in 1129 and is quite beautiful inside.

Located right downtown, near the museum and restaurants. There is the cathedral and the cloister to explore.
The cathedral name is Our Lady of the Assumption and is a Catholic Church build in the Gothic style with many modifications. The cloister is the Renaissance style. There are arches around the rose garden.
The diocese of Lamego was established in 570.
I found the ceiling decorations to be especially attractive.

Our group visited with a knowledgeable guide who described the architecture and art and significance of many of the details. Highly recommended to utilize a guide when visiting such places.

A belíssima catedral de Lamego é gótica e tem uma torre quadrada do século XII. É Patrimônio Nacional e o acesso é gratuito.

Well signposted. Plenty of free parking. Large group of American tourists in. Fabulous building steeped in history. Ample signage in English. Guide was very miserable, obviously having a bad day. But it didn’t spoil the visit. A must if visiting the area.

When you are visiting the city of Lamego, you cannot miss a visit of the cathedral, because this is the place where the Marian cult was instituted in the year 1175. The façade and interior are integrating architectural styles from different periods.
The first reference to the bishopric of Lamego dates from the year 572. They started the building of the cathedral that exists today in the year 1159, this on an old chapel dedicated to São Sebastião, erected a few decades earlier.
At the beginning of the 15th century, the cathedral underwent an important renovation.
So do not miss that visit, it is worth it.

Catedral muito antiga mas bem conservada e presume se que a ausência de alguns altares ,que estejam a ser devidamente restauradas .Claustros bem tratados
