Mir hat es nicht so gefallen, überall Läden die billigen Ramsch anbieten in endlosen Wiederholungen, statt mal eines höherwertigen Angebotes. Die Restaurants teilweise recht teuer, für das was man kriegt. Die kleinen Gassen sind nett, man ist aber auch schnell durchgelaufen und wirkt teilweise recht vernachlässigt. Außerdem wurden wir ständig vor Restaurants angesprochen um reingeschleppt zu werden. Ich hatte irgenwie mehr erwartet.

Nice coast town in Crete 1 1/2 hour drive from Heraklion port the road trip and the view amazing worth the visit

Nagyon hangulatos utcák, viszonylag nagy területet. Ahogy az hasonló helyeken lenni szokott rengeteg étterem, bár és üzlet található. Nagyon ajánlott, hogy ha itt szeretnénk étkezni, akkor nézzük meg előre, hogy milyen a helynek az értékelése, mert elég vegyes a felhozatal. Talán szuveníreket nem itt érdemes venni, mert elég magas felárral dolgoznak.

A antiga cidade é belíssima embora pequena. Há um trenzinho que circula por ali,mas não consegui pegar. Então, fiquei andando pela fortaleza e a beira mar vendo os pequenos barcos de pesca e os seus movimentos em uma tarde de domingo.

There is a good feel to the Old Town sitting under the shadow of the Fortess. There are many historical elements to enjoy besides the cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.
There is a friendly feel about the narrow, mostly traffic free, streets. It doesn't take long to get used to the network of alleyways. The main pedestrian thoroughfare is east to west from the harbour area. The alleys generally are north to south. Every turn gives a different vista.
Beware of the motorcycles and mopeds which oddly are numerous. Some have electric power so cannot always be heard.
There is something here for everybody. There are also markets on Saturday and Thursday just off the Old Town streets.

Lovely old town. I think it was even more picturesque and beautiful that Chania old town and most definitely worth a visit.

This is a quaint little harbor area that leads to a harbor front of restaurants. There is a main street of shops on the other side. A nice place for dinner/lunch/drinks and people watch.

This is our favourite old town! The streets are fantastic and the restaurants are exquisite! The people are so kind and hospitable. Plenty of places to sit and watch the beautiful world go by.

La Renza restaurant is in an old wine cave, excellent fresh fish, prawns to die for!
Went here twice with 2 children 11 and 6 , looked after really well esp as one was dairy free

Hi everyone, we have visited Crete several times but now want to explore the opposite side to the island so looking to book in May 2020. Is 2 weeks too long to spend in Rethymno? We would most likely hire a car for adventuring but not sure if 1 week in Rethymno/1 week Chania would be better or 2 weeks in R. Any advise woudl be really welcome.

There is a sandy beach all along the front, but it is one of those crowded beaches with beds and brollies, the wind can be strong making for big waves and all this week the red no swimmer flags have been up. If you want calmer secluded beaches the best ones are on the islands other side. Two and a half hours bus ride, so recommend a hire car. Look out especially for Elafonissi beach, pink sands and blue lagoons.
Hi I am gong there in a few weeks time, any suggestions on places to visit. Also did you get a taxi or a bus to the village, as I have not sorted out my transfer from Chania.
Also thinking of hiring a car, is there any parking around

Hi, as we stayed in the middle of the island we rented a car from Chania Airport and drove all around the island. My advise is to park the car at the port of Rethimno. There is a free parking next to the paid one and the boats docks until 5 pm. Afterwards my advise is to use the paid parking. It is not expensive at all.

Добрый день! В каждом городе есть общественная платная парковка. В Ретимно нам показали ее хозяева отеля. Чуть дальше от нас была бесплатная, но муж решил не идти туда:). Это касается крупного города и если жить в историческом центре. В остальных городках у нас была парковка рядом с отелем. Если выезжали в город, то смотрели на то, где припаркованы машины и ставим там. Если был паркомат - оплачивали, если не было - оставляли так. Ни одного штрафа с Крита нам не пришло:)
