We chose Ms Ioanna Glypti after an exhaustive research for certified tour guides in Crete to accompany a group of 40 highly intelligent tech executives in the city of Herakleion and in the Palace of Knossos. We had a strict business schedule to follow and time was of essence. Ms Ioanna not only exhibited an outstanding professionalism in keeping with our timelines but also delivered a thought-provoking guided tour that resembled an academic lecture in quality and depth. Our group was spell-bound. Thanks to her methodology, using the Socratic teaching method and addressing our critical thinking, our group was utterly immersed in her multi-disciplinary presentation of the Minoan civilisation. Ms Ioanna is undoubtedly an erudite or a polymath, as we would say in Greek. We were truly enriched by this memorable experience and felt blessed to have crossed paths with Ms Ioanna. On behalf of CAST, we are grateful to her for helping us create an inspiring atmosphere among our team members and thus achieve our business trip targets.

A full throated recommendation of Ioanna by a picky traveller.
Ioanna organized a trip to Santorini for us, and we spent another day looking at sites on Crete. Throughout Ioanna was a wonderful source of information, enthusiasm and good organization. If you want detailed archeological information she can provide it (and cite her sources!); if you want protection from crowds at key choke points, Ioanna is fearless; if you want good cheer and good company, that's Ionna. Not to mention a torrent of practical information about restaurants, Heraklion, and everyday life among the Minoans. Thoroughly enjoyed our two full days with her.
Ioanna organized a trip to Santorini for us, and we spent another day looking at sites on Crete. Throughout Ioanna was a wonderful source of information, enthusiasm and good organization. Ioanna gave us an extensive tour of the Eleftherna museum during our visit to Rethymno. Her knowledge is expansive and her style of delivery is engaging and thought-provoking. She is a trained archaeologist and so much more. We learned more from our morning with her than we hoped for.

Ioanna Kalypso Glypti is simply outstanding in her field. I have never before had a tourguide so extremely wise, so purely professional, and so exceptionally good at engaging conversation with the group.
Ioanna makes a connection between different places, so that a piece of art or piece of knowledge in one place, falls in place in the next conversation, at another location, which leaves attendees with a sense of being able to look at history, archaeology and religion as if at a 360 degree angle.
Not only that, she has a remarkable, yet subtle twist of feminism to her approach. With her deep understanding of history it was not only depicted as decades of men conquering the world, but Ioanna shed light on the importance of women's roles and responsibilities which often have been portrayed in an unfair and belittling way throughout centuries.
While having mentioned Ioanna's talent to engage a conversation with the group, she also got us brainstorming and discussing matters on a higher level than the usual tourist guide might. She's not afraid of questions from attendees and often brings around set of questions to spark conversations concerning piece of art, people throughout history or historical events.
Good sense of time is important to travellers, and Ioanna really knows how to keep schedule and make it worth your while taking part in her tour. She makes good time of otherwise uninteresting places to build up narrative for upcoming scenarios.
Without reading from any paper or brochure, looking up information or any hesitation at all, while guiding our group for hours between historical places around Rethymno, Crete, such as the Monastery of Arcadi and Eleftherna, Ioanna is a person who is extremely passionate about her work and it gives her clients the best possible experience.
I give Ioanna Kalypso Glypti my best recommendation and wish I can go back soon to Crete again to enjoy a second encounter with the world's best guide.

I was lucky enough to be on a tour of Knossos with Ioanna and I can say that without doubt she was one of the best and most informed guides I’ve ever had. Her depth of knowledge was incredible and she somehow managed to bring to life how the Minoans must have experienced Knossos themselves. Absolutely fantastic!

We took a tour around Knossos with Ioanna Kalypso Glypti and, allow me to be frank, I have never taken a tour like it. Ioanna employs the Socratic Method on her tours, constantly interacting with the visitors, asking us questions, offering thoughts and asking our interpretations.
What was really clever and utterly unique was that each segment of the tour felt like it was building on what went before. Gradually we developed a picture of not just Knossos but the whole ancient world and the ancient worldview. Through Ioanna's insights we were able to gain an appreciation of how people thought, what was important to them, how their language gives us an insight into the way we lived.
Ioanna is a fantastic tour guide who is able to lift Ancient Greece out of the history books and into something immediate and vital about life and the way we live now.

Ioanna was great. So well informed, she shed new light on the beautiful ancient remains at Knossos. I would highly recommend her informative stylish talks and tours!

Ioanna is probably the most brilliant and informed tour guide I’ve ever experienced. She led our large group through the ancient Knossos ruins in Heraklion. Not only does she bring a rich academic background, but she integrates various disciplines to create a much fuller, richer account of history than those homogenized, knee-jerk “guesses” of sloppy scholarship that slip so easily into too many tourism narratives.
Among her multi-disciplinary approach is the role of architecture, spiritual beliefs and myths, rituals, culture, trade, the development and preservation of society, and: LANGUAGE! To discover through her the clues that reside in the etymology of words, art, craft, rituals is one exciting and enlightening experience.
I had actually visited Knossos previously, and there is no comparison to the richness and fascination of the place when illuminated by Ioanna.
Among her multi-disciplinary approach is the role of architecture, spiritual beliefs and myths, rituals, culture, trade, the development and preservation of society, and: LANGUAGE! To discover through her the clues that reside in the etymology of words, art, craft, rituals is one exciting and enlightening experience.

This tour was by far the best guided tour I have been on. Ioanna was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us so much information on life during the time. She brought us back in time to really visualize everything. She gave us more information than just the basics and it really made us think and re-examine what we already know. I would recommend everyone to book a tour!

Ioanna Kalypso Glypti was a fountain of knowledge. Her tour was intellectually engaging. She spoke clearly with passion. I learned so much and took many notes. I also learned how to start to interpret the dialogue in art and in the design of buildings.
