j'ai adoré , l'île c'est le volcan!
après 1 h de bateau environ ,visite en car de Mandraki , du petit village Nikia puis descente au cratère avec l'odeur de souffre et la chaleur...une première pour nous . je recommande !

Très belle île paisible dont les paysages sont marqués par la présence du volcan, Le relief, la couleur des plages, la lumière....ont à certains moments du jour un charme crépusculaire et tellurique. On pourrait espérer observer ici une riche biodiversité, de nombreux oiseaux, des mammifères...C'est heureusement le cas pour les faucons d'Eléonore et certains reptiles. Néanmoins, la fréquentation récurrente de l'île par des chasseurs et les pratiques des locaux ont de lourdes et tristes conséquences, les animaux sont souvent rares, farouches, et donc les rencontres et les observations difficiles, sans parler des cartouches au plomb. Dommage que cette île ne soit pas protégée.

We went on a boat trip to see the islands volcano. Once we landed we were allowed a couple of hours to visit the port and harbour of this lovely island. Lots of gift shops to peruse and lovely quaint back terraces to explore.

Great island to spend time on. We did a tour - so day trip from Kos, got taken to the volcano, and village Nikita and then into Mandraki
Many reviews say that a day doesn’t do the island justice and I have to agree - we saw everything but it felt very rushed.
I think a 2 day trip giving you and opportunity to explore a bit more would be great. We ran out of time to see the monastery which was a shame.
For overactive bladders like mine… there were toilets on the bus, toilets at the volcano and even in a public toilet in the village.
We ate where our tour guide suggested which was ok Greek traditional food (good vegetarian options) but there are loads of restaurants along the sea front if you want to break away from the group
The group tour we did cost €35 each and was very well organised pick up and return to hotel, boat return travel and coach to volcano, village and back. Good value for money but expect to be with lots of people!
Warning - the roads trace around the volcano and so if you have a fear of heights or a sense of impending doom of falling off a cliff face be aware - our coach driver was incredibly skilled but I must have spent about 70% of the journey with my eyes closed!

What a special little village this is so picturesque in its greek fashion cats laying in every corner the who place is so relaxed the monastery large and felt overwhelming in size to the houses around shops and cafes are well priced

We hirers a buggie for 9 days. And a speed boat from the three brothers (Vasilli’s ) cannot do enough for you ….we visited the villages up high nikia and emporia ….emporia has two wonderful restaurants …and breath taking views …of the volcano …go before sunset and be amazed …
We were there for a festival and they fed everyone …Greek dancing laughter and smiles …no false rubbish …
Vasilli has rooms to rent on the port as you arrive …..the day out in the boat was amazing ..we went around the island in a couple of hours …then over to the pumice stones and glorious bay …
You have to have small boat experience .
The boat is on palli a wonderful harbour …with fantastic authentic Greek restaurants …Aphrodite …great fish …captains for calamere et. etc …

Der Ausflug nach Nisyros sollte man machen auch wenn genug Touristen unterwegs sind. Das Hafenstädtchen Mandraki ist nett anzuschauen aber einzig und alleine da um die ganzen Besucher zu verköstigen.
Mit dem Bus ging es zum Vulkan und da stank es an manchen Ecken erheblich nach faulen Eiern. Man konnte in den Krater herunterklettern, war ganz OK. Aber das Eintrittsgeld ist meiner Meinung nach viel zu hoch für das was man sieht.
Hingegen ist das Bergdorf Nikia der absolute Kracher und hat sich mehr als gelohnt. Kleine, schöne Gassen. Alles sehr gepflegt im typischen griechischen Stil.

Wij boekten een complete excursie in kos-stad voor 35€ per persoon; met de bus naar kardamena en dan op de boot naar nisyros en met een bus naar de vulkaan. Alles zou erbij in zitten, 2x gevraagd, maar bij aankomst bij de krater moesten we toch de entree van 3 euro betalen. Gaat natuurlijk niet over die 3 euro maar de info klopt niet. Als je in de vulkaan naar beneden wilt heb je bij deze trip precies tijd om 10 foto's te maken want de bus was er om 14 uur en vertrok om 14.40. Te kort naar onze mening. Er was ook tijd om te eten/drinken in mandraki bij de restaurants aanbevolen door de reisleidster maar de kleine tentjes die we zelf vonden hadden onze voorkeur. Wij vertrokken uit kos stad om 8.10 en waren rond 17.30 daar weer terug, om een indruk te geven. De vulkaan is indrukwekkend maar vooral de wandeling terug naar boven was bloedheet. Neem water mee!

Traghetto da Kardamena c'è tutti i giorni?
Abbiamo prenotato un hotel a Nisyros x inizio luglio (da lunedì a martedì).
Mi è venuto un dubbio...il traghetto da Kardamena a Nisyros c'è tutti i giorni?
A noi servirebbe il lunedì e martedì.

Si, di sicuro almeno 2 dei 3 armatori effettuano la traversata ogni giorno. Nell'isola c'è la possibilità di noleggio auto e moto ma da quello che ho visto almeno uno dei tre traghetti può trasportare un eventuale veicolo noleggiato a Kos (chiedere comunque per sicurezza). Gli orari di partenza dei traghetti (almeno ad inizio giugno) era tassativo alle ore 09:30 così come il ritorno alle 15:30.

It’s way too far and difficult to walk and probably cycle (unless you are a mean cyclist). You can book on a tour bus or hire a vehicle at the port easily - which is a trade off between cost and freedom to decide when and where you go. Either way, it’s worth a visit.

Ich finde leider nicht genau zu welchen Uhrzeiten und wo genau eine Fähre von Kos nach nisyros geht. Kann mir jemand helfen?

Hi there. Can someone tell me if there will be any day time ferries running from Rhodes to Nisyros in July. All I can find is the Blue Star night time one.

Hello mr.Peter, Every Tuesday and Thursday the Dodecanisos Pride leaves at 08.30 a.m from rhodes and arrives on Nisyros at 11.20 a.m. You can check the itineraries of all boats at my website: visitnisyros.gr. I hope to help you!
