You have to do it !
We took a taxi up from the town ( the bus service wasn’t in force although the driver was the bus driver)
It’s bleak and featureless up there with no facilities and no access for those with mobility problems.
This said it’s a great old castle well laid out with signage and boards , and stupendous views

this place was recommended
we came with the minibus to the start of the climd because for people above 50 the walk to the mountain might be to heavy especially if its hot
but the climb up is 100% worth it and you find a superb panorama vieuw but also you find out how clever the people were in earlier years to defend themselved

I left the port at half past 6 to try to avoid the sun as much as possible. It’s a steady climb up , not easy sometimes especially because of the heat but the views on the way up are outstanding and there’s complete silence apart from the goats and cockerels . When you get there another climb through the old town to the top of the castle it’s fantastic to see it all . Then ...... o my goodness at the castle !! What a view. It’s astonishing , breathtaking and just blows you away. If your in Chalki this is a must do , if you can. I’ve traveled to lots of places in Greece and seen it’s beauty but this was one of the best don’t miss out!! I think there may be a bus at some part of the day , didn’t see one though but that may be an option if you don’t want to walk up and it’s available.

Это крепость рыцарей Святого Иоанна (с 15 века)
Около 3 км от главного города Халки, но крутой подъем на холм к замку.
Замок виден из города и по мере того, как идти из города по крутой и извилистой дороге до старого разрушенного города Хорио.
Замок находится на вершине холма над Старым городом Хорио.
С вершмны замка вид на остров изумительный и крепость замечательная. стоит потратить некоторое время, чтобы исследовать старый город Хорио, находясь здесь, так и хочется просто кричать от счатья увиденного простора моря и этого острова.
Около 3 км от главного города Халки, но крутой подъем на холм к замку.
Замок виден из города и по мере того, как идти из города по крутой и извилистой дороге до старого разрушенного города Хорио.
Замок находится на вершине холма над Старым городом Хорио.
С вершмны замка вид на остров изумительный и крепость замечательная. стоит потратить некоторое время, чтобы исследовать старый город Хорио, находясь здесь, так и хочется просто кричать от счатья увиденного простора моря и этого острова.

Detta gamla slottet är absolut väl värt ett besök. Utsikten är bara helt fantastisk! Mycket står som ruiner, men det är också gjort fint renoveringsarbete här. Den stenlagda stigen, gör att stigningen till toppen går fint. Många trappor. Vi startade vandringen tidigt på morgonen för att slippa värsta hettan. Behagliga skor mycket viktigt! Det finns ingen affär där uppe, så ta med rikligt med vatten och något att tugga på. Då detta är en ganska krävande tur, möter man inte speciellt många. Vi mötte ingen. Ett dopp i havet på eftermiddagen som avslutning var inte fel.

Με θέα το απέραντο γαλάζιο του Αιγαίου!! Μπορεί να είναι λίγο ανηφορικός και κουραστικός ο δρόμος, αλλά το αποτέλεσμα σε ανταμοίβει πραγματικά..

Εκπληκτικό κάστρο με θέα στο Αιγαίο. Από το λιμάνι απέχει αρκετά με τα πόδια καθώς το Χωριό είναι γύρω στα 3 χιλιόμετρα και από εκεί έχει ανάβαση, γύρω στα 20 με 30 λεπτά. Αξίζει σίγουρα να πάτε καθώς εκτός από το μαγικό τοπίο του κάστρου, θα δείτε και το μεσαιωνικό χωριό που έχει εγκαταληφθεί.

La montée au château est difficile physiquement mais une fois arrivé on oublie les douleurs par la beauté du site! A ne pas manquer en cas de visite sur l'île d Halki!!!

Good active walk of about 1.25 hours from the harbour. Spectacular views from the castle. Recently renovated with a much better path for the final ascent. Must do activity when you are on Halki.

I'm not going to pretend this is an easy option. We left the port at 6.30 a.m. to make sure we could manage the steep uphill walk before it was too hot. You will need plenty of water. You walk for about an hour uphill and then there is the steep climb to the top of the mountain to see the castle. Views are spectacular and so worth the effort. Collapsed at the taverna on Pondamos beach on the way back for a well earned breakfast.
