It is very close to Limenas center and to the harbour.
Goos starting point for visiting everything that Limenas has to offer.
It is free to visit, which is nice, but in May it was overgrown with grass so it was difficult to really appreciate it.

Πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα η αρχαιολογική προσέγγιση της ελεύθερης περιδιάβασης στην αρχαία αγορά ΑΛΛΆ πραγματικά δεν είδα ιδιαίτερη μέριμνα από τον Δήμο. Την ημερα που το επισκέφθηκα έκοβαν κάποια χόρτα, ωστόσο στα περισσότερα σημεία έφταναν μέχρι και πάνω από το γόνατο.

Μια αρχαία αγορά στην καρδιά του νησιού που αποκαλύπτει το κλέος των αρχαίων Ελλήνων. Αξίζει αναμφισβήτητα να το επισκεφθεί κάποιος, όμως έχει το μειονέκτημα ότι ως χώρος είναι αναξιοποιητος και μη προβαλλομενος από τους ιθύνοντες. Αμεσο αποτέλεσμα αυτού ειναι οτι εαν δεν γνωριζεις καλα την περιοχή, πρεπει να ρωτήσεις για να βρεις αυτό το μέρος.

When in Limenas, I always have an explore of the Ancient Agora, next to the Archeological Museum, and just back from the old harbour.
Unfettered access means you can let your imagination run wild (and pose for photos on the many plinths.
There is some information, but not much. Parts are overgrown, which just makes for better exploring!
Peaceful oasis in Limenas, and plenty of shade too.

I am really into history so I find this place Interesting. It will be a much much better if local authorities take care of this place. At the moment I recommend to read a little bit about this Agora in the Internet. Anyway 100% worth visiting for all as it is located just 2 min walk from the harbor.

Given that there are Roman ruins all over Thassos town, the Ancient Agora is a good place to start as it is quite a large site and has shade from large trees. There is a map and some explanation at the entrance but after that you are on your own somewhat. A good idea is to take a photo of the map, and refer to it as you go around the site. It is a restful place to walk around and wonder, but some parts are overgrown and you aren’t quite sure where to walk. Personally, I loved it and spent some time sitting in the shade enjoying the peace and quiet.

Ένας ενδιαφέρον ιστορικός χώρος που δυστυχώς βρίσκεται σε πλήρη εγκατάλειψη. Τα χόρτα έχουν να κοπούν μήνες. Τουλάχιστον σώζει την κατάσταση το μουσείο από δίπλα. Κρίμα.

für uns völlig überraschend sind die ausgrabungsstätten auf thassos alle frei zugänglich - das ist einerseits positiv für uns interessierte besucher.
allerdings ist soviel potential ungenutzt und die meisten stätten deshalb in schlechtem zustand (keine oder nicht leserliche infotafeln, ausgrabungen nicht ausgemäht...) - eigentlich schade, das wäre sicher ausbaufähig

a due passi dal mare e venti metri dal museo. Atmosfera magica che riporta indietro nei secoli. bellissimi ed ampi gli spazi anche se ciò che resta non è tenuto come si dovrebbe. comodi gli orari di visita dalmattino al pomeriggio inoltrato. Da visitare assolutamente.
