"Shell Corner" is so named because there was a Howitzer shell in the middle of the roundabout, awarded because of the community's extraordinary efforts during World War 2.
The Shell was removed more than 20 years ago... and local people missed it.
So, a group of amazingly dedicated people were determined to replace it. A beautiful poppy and WW1/2 memorial painted shell and bench were dedicated near the roundabout that gave the area its name.
The area might not look like much, but the people who live there are working hard to make it better.

Great locals with a fantastic community sprit. From fish&chips to a couple of pints together with live entertainment this is a smashing place to visit.
