‪Stuffed in Stockholm‬

‪When traveling to a new place taking a food tour is a great way to get a feel for the city and learn about the culture. I have been on lots of food tours on the past and this one is by far the best. The tour guide was amazing- thanks, Kristen!- she was engaging and interested in not only what we as a group had to say but she had her own suggestions and ideas we well. She personally knew every shop owner/restauranteur/ server and was always enthusiastically greeted. You could tell that she frequented these places on her own time and was knowledgeable about what they had to offer. We met right on time under a giant blue clock that wass about a 20 minute walk for us from the hotel. There were only 5 people in our party, the perfect size. We were 3 of the group, one person from Singapore, and another who was local but had just moved from California. It was a great group and we all got along quite well. We began at a fish market where we had cold and hot smoked salmon, pickled herring (who knew that pickled herring is delicious and so many varieties!) and a local beer. The owner came out to greet us and we all talked for a while. Next we one two an Asian retsurnat called "China" and had fish scented eggplant, spicy cucumber, and a pork dish. All were good although the man from Singapore said later that he wanted to skip that kind of thing and wanted more Nordic cuisine. I didn't mind it because it was good and I wouldn't have ordered that on my own. We also had a shot of Baijiu that will put hair on your chest. Next to the Bottle Shop where we has some IPA I didn't care for and some pizza on a seeded cracker-like crust. The brewer master was downstairs so we got to peek at his going ons as well. Made an informal stop at Sponge Cookies where we couldn't help ourselves and had to buy a half dozen to try later. Off to StikkiNikki to try some gelato, but first Kristen took us to the back room where we had various wild game meats like bear and reindeer as well as some local wines and cheeses. We sang a silly sone and did another shot of something that I forget. A colleague of hers who is a sommelier age us more information about what we were drinking. There is a lot of drinking on this tour and my son (who's 18) got a little tipsy which I thought was hilarious. We then cut up the cookies and tried all the flavors. They were amazing! Finally onto gelato and we tried about 6 different flavors and had to guess each. Some were strange like mayonnaise and others delicious like strawberry. Then to Meatballs for the People where were were served (practically) a whole plate of food. At this point you are stuffed and possibly drunk. We had the beef and pork meatballs with mashed potatoes, cucumbers, and lingonberries. Finally, to Chokladfabriken for some Fika (my favorite new word!) we had a rhubarb and cardamom (popular there) bun as well as chocolates that we had to guess the floors of. Their most popular is salted caramel with a hint of licorice. We also had a chocolate milkshake that was like drinking a chocolate bar. I was completely stuffed! Smooch so we cancelled our dinner reservations. I think that is what I liked best, it was a lot of food which is what you want on a food tour! We went on one in Bergen and it was lackluster by these standards.
This was an amazing experience that I will never forget and would recommend to anyone who is visiting Stockholm. Thank you for the wonderful time!‬

‪Great food tour in Södermalm‬

‪We did the "Culinary Södermalm" food tour and very much enjoyed it. It was the two of us (from Switzerland), with 10 people from Sweden, so the guide explained everything in Englisch and in Swedisch. We walked around Södermalm and ate at 7 different places (two dessert places, and 5 non dessert places). One of the is swedisch, the other ones different cuisines from all over the world. Its great fun, tasty and excellent value for money. I can very much recommend this tour. Come very hungry.‬

‪Food Tour of Stockholm‬

‪Had a great food tour led by Valentina. We did a total of 3 stops. First: SmallHall for cheese, meat and Swedish meatballs, Second for fish entree and licorice/sweets and wine. ( Don’t remember name of location.) Third for cinnamon bun and coffee at a quaint shop in old town. Everything was delicious. Valentina patiently explained each selection. Got in lots of steps. Group was friendly.‬

‪Great Off the Beaten Path Food Tour!!!‬

‪We took our tour on January 20th, with Thora as our guide. She was great, went out of her way to personally interact with everyone on the tour, and conveyed a lot of information about the places, the food and the city. We went on their tour of the Soldermalm district (the “SoFo” part of town, very trendy and upscale). While we got to sample local treats like some smoked salmon and Toast Skaagen at a fish market that has been in the same family for three generations, and a local micro-brewery (that also sold food and had laundry facilities!), we also went to the oldest and best Chinese, Greek and Indian restaurants in Stockholm, and ended with a big sampling of the delights of Stikki Nikki’s Ice Creams. A wonderful experience!‬

‪Hidden gems ‬

‪Great tour where we explored some hidden gems in Vasastaden. Knowledgeable guide and a good variety of places to visit.
The tour was about 4,5 hours with all food and most drinks included. The guide checked for allergies as well which was nice to hear.

‪Bra mat, trevlig guide och nya upptäckter‬

‪Vi fick en restaurangvandring i present och fastnade för en "krogrunda" på Stockholms söder. Det visade sig vara en fyra timmars promenad med sju ät-och-drick stopp. Med hjälp av en entusiastisk guide och trevliga medpromenerare utvecklade sig eftermiddagen till trevliga kulinariska upplevelser och att vi - fast vi bor i innerstaden - naturligtvis upptäckte trevliga restauranger men också stadsmiljöer som vi inte upptäckt i vår hemstad. Restaurangstoppen innehöll smakbitar från respektive meny och i vissa fall måltidsdryck ibland öl/vin (gick att beställa mer, om man ville). Själva vandringen ägde rum "mellan lunch och middag" så ofta var vi ensamma i restaurangen vilket gav utrymme för samtal också med restaurangpersonalen. Ett tips: Ät inte en maffig lunch innan promenaden! Efter sju stopp är du definitivt mätt när promenaden är över. ‬

‪Vi har deltagit vid två tillfällen i Food tours arrangemang, först på Söder och sedan i Vasastan - bådaarrangemangen var lika proffsigt genomförda med intressanta utvalda besöksmål - rekommenderas varmt- vi återkommer mer än gärna‬

‪I booked the Nordic Experience food tour. A few days beforehand I received a confirmation text and notification that I was the only person booked. They offered a reschedule or refund if I wanted “the group experience”. It was nice that they let me know but I was thrilled to have a personal foodie guide for my tour. Catherine was lovely and adapted her approach to suit the situation, so it felt like a friend was showing me around Stockholm, which was wonderful. I enjoyed all of the food samples and while they were small portions, I felt it was plenty of food over the time and there was good variety. If I have any minor criticism it would be that at a few stops, there were lots of foods spoken about highly, but it seemed disappointing to only get to sample one or two items, especially for the ones requiring a trip on the subway. I had a wonderful time and feel I know so much more about Swedish cuisine. ‬
