It is a unique lighthouse that's possible to visit in Iceland, open for the visitors.
Since 1944, situated in Akranes, in West Coast of Iceland.
Climb to the top and enjoy a beautiful panorama of 360° and view over the Atlantic Ocean. Lighthouse lovers, don't miss the chance to go to the top!
Inside there are some exhibitions and events, organized in summer time, while in winter, it's open if the weather conditions permit to climbe.
The man at entrance can give some interesting info about the place.

Were able to climb up the newest lighthouse and even open the trapdoor to get onto the top balcony where the active light operates - lot some wonderful selfies and views of the surrounding peninsular where the oldest lighthouse looks very cute! There's also a thermally heated beach but we didn't venture too far as it was getting dark.

We visited Akranes when driving past the area, Akranes itself felt very different from Reykjavik - but it was great to see another part of Iceland.
The lighthouse itself has some brilliant views, and it makes for a great photo opportunity if you are into photography.

I'm not sure why this isn't rated better! We just happened upon the lighthouse while driving in the area, and I'm so glad we did. We enjoyed really unique views and the lighthouse was neat to climb. We weren't charged any entrance fee? only signed a guestbook

Ein toller Ausblick übers Meer und die Region. Und mit 300 ISK pro Person sehr günstig. Hilmár, ein überaus netter und hilfsbereiter Mensch, arbeitet im Servicecenter des Leuchtturms. Das Servicecenter ist nur eine kleine Holzhütte mit Toiletten, aber alles vor Ort ist sehr liebenswert.

Por un pequeño pago se puede subir hasta arriba sin embargo no lo hicimos porque el clima estaba muy malo y no se podía ver absolutamente nada alrededor.

Bij slecht weer is dit een troostelijke plek en moeilijk te vinden. Bij mooi weer kan het best een mooi punt zijn om van de oceaan te genieten en de vuurtoren te beklimmen voor 300kr op.

Vi havde vores lille søn på 1 år med oppe i fyrtårnet i en bæresele, og det fungerede så fint. Der er en smuk udsigt over Akranes fra toppen, og det er helt sikkert klatreturen værd.

For a small price, you can climb up to the top of the new lighthouse and see a 360 degree view which is awesome! We walked on the rocks out to see the old lighthouse too. By the parking area there is a small break in the wall and a small beach area where we walked and collected shells and see glass. My children loved it!
