Stuck in Keflavik after a flight was cancelled. Put up in a hotel down the road, so we gave it a wander. Excellently done. Captured my interest and imagination for an hour. Did not care for the modern art section.... some may enjoy the geology area but I loved the history. Really made me think about what it was like to live here in the early 1900s as a fisherman. Very we done. Inexpensjve and worth a trip.

Das Duus-Museum ist sowohl ein Museum als auch eine Gallerie.
Im Museumsteil kann interessante Informationen zum harten Leben der Fischer auf Reykjanes erfahren. Im Obergeschoss gibt es eine Ausstellung von Hunderten Modellen verscheidenster Fischerboote - der Umfang ist unglaublich.
Leider ist die vielgelobte Touristeninformationstelle am 1. September geschlossen worden.

Best museum we visited in Iceland. Such interesting exhibits and building. One exhibit where you are surrounded by sounds of the sea looking and photos and artifacts of Icelandic fishing people. Quirky collection of model boats.

È un piccolo museo sulle imbarcazioni che racconta bene la storia della zona, delle imbarcazioni usate per pescare nel passato. È gratuito. La visita dura circa mezz'ora.

The Duushus museum is a combination of art gallery, environmental centre, museum, and historic site all rolled into one. The many rooms, however, are not clearly marked and a lot of the information is only in Icelandic. An enormous collection of wooden ship models, some rotating local art, a huge largely unmarked upstairs room with a vast collection of materials tracing the Danish roots of the area and the various societies and individuals involved. Plus a nice little exhibit on the WW2 and subsequent US occupation of the area during the cold war.
And a beautiful attic which catches the sunlight in August, also largely unmarked, and a working wagon hoist from when the building was a coastal warehouse.
Next to impossible to figure out how to get from one place to another, but well worth a visit and a wander.

Музей находится практически в центре города. Вход 1000 исландских крон. В музее несколько залов. По времени провёл около 2 часов.

The museum is literally next store to the Hotel Duus. It is quite expansive documenting the fishing industry and development of the area. The upper level displays furnishings of the early settlers. The museum expands into geological and wildlife area. Low cost to enter(maybe 10 krona). And we’ll worth the price.

This is a very impressive museum containing over a hundred model fishing boats all created by one person. I was awed by the quantity and quality of the models presented. If you are lucky you will meet a very well informed docent who will share her vast knowledge with you.
