A long car journey but well worth it to explore this area with its geo thermal field and great places to hike,

En lang bustur frem og tilbage og en del på ujævn grusvej. Det vidste vi i forvejen men ærgerligt at det også blev mere og mere dårligt vejr. Det er selvfølgelig ude af firmaets hænder men det var en underlig fornemmelse, at det eneste der blev sagt i bussen både på ud- og hjemturen var: fasten your seatsbelts - INTET andet.
Da vi ankom fandt vi ud af, at man kunne stille sig i kø og få info om bla. en vandre-gå-rundtur. Kortet kunne købes, hvis man havde kontanter med, men den er godt afmærket. Da det blev mere og mere regn, var allw godt våde og kolde, da turen endelig gik hjemad. Igen : fasten your seatsbelts og INTET andet. Desværre kom der kun varme gennem bussen et par korte perioder, ellers var det køligt hele vejen (mest pga vådt tøj).
Vi har jo nok bestilt en transport til stedet tilsyneladende, men vi fik godt nok heller ikke noget som helst andet. Hverken varme, venlighed eller service på nogen som helst måde.

This tour is absolutely awesome! I really suggest to book this tour if you are still not sure what to do because that place is AMAZING! Great trip in a comfortable bus wth great driver and guide. Thanks!

Pleasant day first on the road stopping at several checkpoints to take photos, then to Landmannalaugar to have a little walk around mountains.
Pickup is near people's accomodation and the drop off was where we wished, perfect.

we booked a tour to Landmannalaugar and Saga Valley. we were a small group , around 10 people in a mini bus.
the views all the way to Landmannalaugar were so beautiful, we stopped in a nice waterfall in the way and in many other nice places,
but the best was Landmannalaugar itself which is amazing!!
so beautiful and unique, we had 3 hours there and it was enough, we saw so many beautiful things and they even gave us time to go to the geothermal hot spring.
I just think that the guide wasn't that good........
and it was very expensive but we are glad that we booked this tour because it was one of the highlights of our trip to iceland

We opted for afternoon trip (pickup 2pm, return 8.30ish)which is cheaper 68isk, tour to Geyser, Gullfoss waterfall & national park. Albert was an amazing guide full of useful & historic information. Great value for money in a v expensive country. Both the geyser & waterfall are jaw dropping, don't miss them!

Initially i was skeptical to join this tour as i have a 23 months old baby but after this trip i was so grateful that i made the right decision! RE is a very professional local tour operator who made me felt so comfortable especially when i saw the child seat was ready for us as requested. The entire journey was so enjoyable and my baby truly happy as well. I even carried my baby and took the 1.5 hours easy hiking course at Landmannalaugar. It was not that 'easy' especially when you need to carry a 11kg baby with you and hiked though but the tour guide was very very encouraging! Eventually i completed the hiking course as well! I highly recommended those who plan to bring along your baby to go ahead without hesitation as your baby will definitely enjoy the entire trip as well. I also suggest to bring a lightweight backpack you can pack some milk powder, water, diaper and snacks. A good pair of hiking shoes is also very important to keep yourself and your baby safe during the hiking course.

We took this tour which took a full 12 hours from pickup to drop off. The bus ride out there had several stops for scenic outlooks, and food/bathroom requirements. When we got to Landmannalauger, we went on the advertised hike. The scenery there was absolutely breathtaking. Our tour guide was fantastic.
Two things to be aware of. First, a large percentage of the bus ride is on unpaved dirt roads, and the ride is very bumpy. So if you have any sort of back condition, this is not for you. Also, the hike was far more strenuous and difficult than advertised. If it weren't for our wonderful guide, my wife might not have made it!

I want to write this so as many people get here and see this place as possible!! Truly one of the most magical, out of this world, and beautiful places I have ever been. If you are staying in Reykjavik and trying to figure out how the heck to get to the highlands of Iceland (I didn't have a car and a rental would have been pricey as a 4WD is needed) take the sterna bus tour. Their information desk is located in harpa. The tour bus will take you to the hiking location (about 3.5 hours) and will let you have about 6 hours to explore. Perfect for a nice long hike and then a soak in the natural hot springs. Bring food and water (water at site to refill). Hike through lave fields, up mountains, around streams...its just amazing. I really wanted to do this and after a ton of research sterna was the cheapest bus tour and gave the most free time to hike. I also didn't want a tour guide for the hike and they didn't have that... I just can't recommend this enough. Go.

This is a trip you must take either with this Reykjavik Excursions or Gray Line tours. We were in view of Hekla most of the trip. The hills and valleys were an array of colors. We took a walk/hike in Landmannalaugar. Beautiful! Amazing! We walked through a lava field and then got close up to one of those colored hills. (We went with our tour guide which seemed a bit unnecessary, but he gave some great tips about what we were seeing. However, he walked a bit fast for my wife on a fairly easy terrain. Since we've hiked in New Hampshire, I don't think we are inexperienced; it was just that he was faster--seemed on a mission/time frame. I would have rather they had said "We'll be in this area--hike and geothermal pool--for this amount of time. Make it happen." After our hike we slipped into a geothermal pool. It was raining by then and it was cool when I got in, but closer to the "vent" was wicked hot! But I loved that! It wasn't as "relaxing" as they suggest because there were quite a few people there and kids playing in the cool pool part. But it was still a beautiful experience. This was our last tour and though everyone wants to talk about the geysirs, the waterfalls, etc as the most beautiful, I really thought this short hike and area was the most magnificent landscape in all of Iceland.

Ciao a tutti, ad Agosto saro' in islanda per visitare anche landmannalaugar, ho bisogno di un vostro consiglio su quale 4x4 noleggiare per poter attraversare i guadi di landmannalaugar e askja. Qualcuno di voi ha mai noleggiato con goiceland? Potete darmi qualche consiglio su auto e agenzia di noleggio? Grazie a tutti per l'aiuto.
