This show was entertaining, witty, engaging and musically ambitious. The acto/storyteller charmed and delighted us. The musician was amazing on the harp, and the music was lovely. Not a dull moment! And we learned a tremendous amount about Caravaggio and the Execution of St John painting, as well as a great , though speculative, tale of an old rivalry/ love affair. Thanks for a wonderful performance! PS. Nothing about how the Knights got so very very rich? Just wondering...

It’s a must-see and a highlight of our trip!

A wonderfully evocative concert in a lovely oratory aside St John's cathedral in central Valletta. The story of Michelangelo Caravaggio.

An excellent performance an evening not to forget: we learnt a great deal about the Cathedral and the history of the Knights of St John and of course Caravaggio. It is worth doing the guided Tour before the concert.

An exquisite performance that brought the life of Caravaggio into viivd detail through story and music.
In the Intimate setting of the Oratory of the Co-Cathedral of St John in Valletta, right beneath the breathtaking painting of the beheading of John the Baptist, Jeremy Grech skilfully wove a compelling tale that had the audience riveted.
Interspersed with exquisite vocal accompaniment by an accomplished and beautiful soprano and multi- talented musician who played the psaltery, baroque cello and the impressive grand organ, this was beyond my wildest imaginings and I was almost moved to tears

A clever, informative and musically beautiful production minimally staged (by a super talented cast of 3) in the most beautiful setting - the Oratory of St John's co cathedral in Valletta Malta.
The cathedral is a must see destination in its own right and within it The Oratory is the room containing one of the most internationally recognised works by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, known as 'The Beheading of St John the Baptist'.
The production explains the life of Caravaggio and the history of the Knights of Malta interspersed with stunning vocal and instrumental performances of baroque music and a detailed understanding of the masterpiece in the room.
It is a unique and moving experience that I recommend without hesitation to anyone interested in Art and Baroque music.
If your budget can stretch, also include the pre performance guided tour of the Cathedral and your seats are held for you.

The privilege of listening to live music with the backdrop of Caravaggio’s The Beheading of St John the Baptist was such a sublime experience. One musician playing 16th century instruments, one angelic singer and one excellent actor recounting the story of Caravaggio.
This is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the life and times of Caravaggio and admire his only signed work away from the madding crowd!
We also joined the private tour of the Co-Cathedral beforehand which I thoroughly recommend. Again, the privilege of viewing one of the most amazing churches in the world without the usual daytime crowds was an honour.
I cannot recommend this experience enough!

Highly professional, entertaining, and informative. Excellent music by Jacob who played a Baroque cello, Victorian harp, a clavichord, and the 16th century Oratory organ. The actor was impeccable, energetic, and both serious and humorous, working to a brilliant, well researched script. The soprano blended in perfectly. Do not miss future performances
