My wife and I, both of us senior citizens, spent a lovely few hours at the palace completely enthralled by its interiors.
Now, before I get into the review proper, and tell readers about the inside of this palace, I feel that I must give a mention about the security staff. We have travelled extensively throughout this planet of ours, and as such meet a lot of security personnel at airports, public buildings, etc., but the staff at this particular palace are some of the most professional and friendly that we have ever encountered. A lot of times we have had to deal with unsmiling ‘jobsworths’ that make passing through security an onerous task that one dreads, but this was a totally different experience. They were smiling, carrying out the checks in a professional manner, and making it as easy as possible to get into the palace. Even after I had passed through security I was politely asked by another security team member to carry my rucksack at my side and not on my back – something that I’ve encountered at a few public buildings, but mine is quite heavy, so I said that we would have to leave as it was too weighty to carry as such. She then kindly told me that the security team at the entrance would look after it whilst I toured the palace. I took it back to the entrance, and with absolutely no drama they took it off me and gave me a ticket. The security management of the palace should train all of the security staff throughout the World how to treat customers, as they have got it just right.
Once through security we commenced the tour by walking around the simply amazing armoury. I’ve never seen so much armour and weapons in one place. This is an absolute treat for anyone that is in anyway interested in this type of display, which I certainly was, and to a lesser degree so was my wife. We spent quite a considerable time looking at all of the displays. The multimedia screens around this room were also so well thought out and really enhanced the experience.
After we had walked around the armoury we walked around all of the other accessible state rooms in the palace. These were less interesting than the armoury, but still a good way to spend the morning.
I would highly recommend the palace as somewhere to spend a few hours finding out about the history of Malta. It cost us €20 (£16.77) for the two of us, so good value for an interesting insight into this islands past.

Palate outdated and in its juice.
The visit explains nothing about the historical context. An audio guide would be welcome. The Award of admission leaves something to be desired.

This building used to be the palace of the Grandmasters of the Order of St. John, but is now the Office of the President of Malta. Only some of the rooms are accessible to the public such as the green themed Grand Master’s Sala, the gold themed Throne Room and the red themed Ambassadors’ Room. The most impressive is the armoury museum with its incredible collection of arms and armour. The latter could easily occupy 2 hours if the history of warfare interests you.

Huge collection of armor and weapons from the medieval ages accompanied with explanatory historical texts. There are also some past presidential rooms that you can see that are still used today. Definitely worth the 12€ entrance fee.

We thought this was a very well laid out museum, and gave a lot of useful, concise information about the Palace itself and the contextual history. The Armoury is absolutely amazing, and well worth seeing.

Absolutely disappointing experience, very high cost for what the structure offers or the opportunity to visit only part of the building.
Considering the rude staff, who after alerting them to my partner's diabetes responded in a rude way, I do not recommend the visit

My family and I went here today but originally we were meant to go on Tuesday but the palace was closed with no prior warning on the website and on the doors which was a bit irritating!
The palace itself is nice! There is a lot to see and the artwork is really pretty!
I would come here again!

Really brought the history of Malta and the Order to life. The armoury hall was fascinating in particular, as was the design of the various rooms.

I'll be visiting Valetta in Oct 2019, heard there are some refurbishments being made to the Grandmaster's Palace, is it worth visiting it now?

Hi where do you get tickets for the palace?
Thanks Vanessa
