A really cosy theatre (seating some 400 + persons) where you're never too far away from the action. On this occasion we met up with friends to see an excellent tribute to Billy Joel.

Booked seats in the dress circle no's A31 and A32, the website stated limited legroom,what an understatement!. Ime five foot eight and my knees were pressed tight against the balcony wall,no way could I have sat there for five minutes,and certainly not for the duration of a show.The seats were in the middle of a row and to get to our seats the other people had not only to stand up but to exit their seats and stand in the aisle ! We left the seats as no way could we stay there and told the usher of the problem,he advised us politely that it was an old theatre and the seats had been like that since Victorian times and that we should go downstairs and speak to the manager (we didn't bother,just wrote the evening off and retired to the pub).Maybe the Victorians had shorter legs ! Just a warning if you book for the theatre don't book the front row of the dress circle unless your two foot six with a very strong bladder !

Beautifully restored theater. Have been twice, once in the main stalls and this time in the dress circle. Staff are very friendly and helpful. When the glitterball is going it gives it a magical feel. The new addition bar area downstairs does fell like it doesn't "go" with the theatre and can get very cramped.

The theatre and upstairs bar are lovely - well preserved and cosy. The new bar by the entrance feels really clinical though, and it's quite jarring compared to the rest of the venue. Staff were lovely, and it's in a fab location.

I normally have a good time at this theatre. But on this occasion we booked the Box for 4 people. Beware this Box will not seat 4 people in comfort. No leg room and one of the seats has an obscured view of the stage. Probably ok for two people. These are not premium seats.

Fantastic performance of this years pantomime Beauty and the beast. The whole family enjoyed it, a first for my boys who are 3 and 8. The show was approx 3 hours with a 30 minute interval, perfect to grab an ice cream or drink. Parking nearby is easy and it’s lovely to support our local theatre. We will definitely try to go again next year.

Room and food was excellent staff all great we stayed 3 nights not one problem the staff all work very hard and very pleasant thank you ian and di market drayton we will be back soon

Great Theatre I'd this. We went to see "Sunny side up"last minute having not been here before.Goid value, friendly wrlcome and ideal views and sound. Play was entertaining and funny.

The youth theatre of Wakefield Theatre Royal are back, having waited almost two years to perform their version of Oklahoma! The theatre was maybe three quarters full and the show brought the house down with some stand out performances and fabulous musical accompaniment from their resident MD. Romantic leads sang their hearts out as did the whole company, tackling sophisticated 9 part harmonies like true pros. Get down their while you can and enjoy a night of top show tunes.
