First visit here on a dull, rainy day in June, there are plenty of car parks within walking distance of town centre, the buildings are quite quirky and look old. Some have been utilised into other purposes. There is a pleasant river running through and walks alongside, plenty of cafés and nice shops. I'm sure it would have been better on a sunny day.

What a truly delightful town this is. I stopped over here for 24 hours on my way north in order to break up the journey. I selected Stamford as I'd never been there before.
What an excellent choice. An historic town littered it seems with listed buildings, and for a small town, one that seems to fight off admirably well the effects of high street demse and post Covid closures. It remains vibrant and interesting and as an added bonus is delightfully clean.
The historic town centre is well off for some very fine independent traders of all descriptions; clothiers jeweller, food outlets, cafes and pubs.
I did learn to avoid the town centre on a Bank Holiday evening as everything is shut. No food available. but other than that I found it to be a most enthralling visit.

We stayed at The George Hotel, and visited family living locally. We went to Burghley House for lunch in the orangery, and entertained family members in The George Hotel

Picked up a free self-guided walk from the Tourist Information Office, walked about 2 kms and took 90 mins, lots of interesting and attractive buildings to look at and some quirky shops.
Really enjoyed our time, would recommend

Staying in Stretton Lakes for 7 days so decided to visit Stamford, easy to get to and parking was easy enough.
Town centre itself was very vibrant today with the market on down the main street.Lots of shops to visit especially coffee shops and food shops.
Spent a few hours walking round looking at the old buildings and they are stunning to look at really beautifully built and standing the test of time.
Definitely worth a few hours of your time,but have some money with you.....

Lovely old buildings and lots of independent shops. Trawled the antique centre and had a delicious lunch of savoury crepes in café au chocolat.

What has happened to one of my favourite towns? There's shops closed everywhere and just not as vibrant as even 4 years ago.

Nice walk along river..very nice town. Good large market on Saturdays, very good restaurants 'chocolate cafe' lovely Gf crepe. 'Oscars' very good Italian. Not great parking but reasonably priced.

absolute hell hole if you are thinking of coming here please don't the place is full of ten bob millionaires, cigarette ends, litter and rubbish the buildings are worth seeing and stunning if the locals where like this i would return, everything is overpriced tat, terrible beer and rushed out food, unfortunately the town thinks it is something it isn't.be careful on a monday morning there is glass all over from smashed beer bottles from the weekend ale louts
parking is cheap though but you have to walk miles as the locals park in nearest one all day whilst at work and looking down there noses at you they still think its 1915

Is Stamford Market open on Friday 18 August. A couple of friends and myself are planning a visit on this date, and very much would like to visit the Market.
