The SWCP starts in Minehead and 630 miles later ends in Poole Dorset. The Culver Cliff section of the South West Coastal Path starts just beyond the Quay West car park with its toilet block,at the harbour end of Minehead ( although strangely we found it cheaper to park on the road for an extended period rather than in the car park).
Initially flat through grassland at the beginning it rises steeply through the wood towards Hurlstone Point. But as others have mentioned there are several resting places and it flattens out at the top and the views across the Bristol Channel are stunning when you arrive at the point. It’s then largely downhill into Porlock where you can pick up a bus back to Minehead.

The feeling that we achieved something on our weekend away. Strenuous walk up the cliff. Very windy at the top. Amazing views across Bristol channel and Exmoor.
Nice to get away from maskwearing.
Steep climb down to Porlock marshes and the fossil trees. It took us 4 hours.
Lovely to finish in a pub with a cider.
Kind bus driver on the local minibus drove us to the next cash point to get some money to pay the fare as he didn't take cards.

The "Hands that Hold the Map" sculpture is an interesting piece of work but badly spoilt by the two nearby litter bins that are in dire need of restoration.
How about Minehead Council allowing graffiti artists to give them some uplift? Might even get a Banksy!!

The walk from the RNLI bathhouse along thebay leading to the beach is a lovely walk, making me feel like I was in an Enid Blyton book😉 with the quaint little houses across from the bay with their gardens laid up the side of the hills behind them in a most fascinating way -well for us city dwellers it was-and the free steam wagon chugging along the street and the sparkling water... We didn't want to go home.Above the beach to o be end there's a great woodland walk which is fine for young kids too though I would not suggest buggies.

Really enjoyed this walk. Went up past Greenaleigh point to the chapel ruins (they were a bit of a waste of time) and then we kept going to Bossington before turning back. Really enjoyable and some good views

Great woodland walks with park area and space for kids, plenty of places to sit and rest while watching the sea.

Beautiful views and wonderful countryside, there are dozens of footpaths that lead upto and around North Hill from Culvercilff. The going is a little steep in places but manageable by taking rest at the numerous benches.

A good place to walk the dog, wide open space with great view across to Wales and down the coast. For a year now I have been in contact with the council about the number of illegal tents in the undergrowth, refered to as rough sleepers. They just make so much mess and have been known to harass walkers for money. The council seem to lack the will or desire to resolve this problem and all us frustrated rate payers appear powerless. A lovely spot being spoilt and no one is bothered.

Stunning coastal views, and a great place to walk, however there are some very steep parts so not for the unfit!

We have been walking the Coast path for several days and have the most enjoyable time. Exmoor National Park has the most stunning views of both moorland and coast. The path are very wel maintained and we have been walkinh after some serious rain fall. Stiles gates and bridges were much appreciated.

Hi! I am passing through Minehead in a couple of weeks time and wondered if there were any gentle walks with good views that were suitable for a wheelchair user?? Can anyone help please?

David's tips are spot on. In addition, the walk finder part of the South West Coast Path website has the ability to filter for those walks that are easy going, and has links to where you can find more information about terrain etc. Another good place to look is the Countryside Mobility SW website - they hire out rugged mobility scooters at lots of countryside sites, including a couple on Exmoor. Even if you have your own scooter, its worth checking out, as their sites will be fairly accessible.
Have a great trip
