Absolutely amazing shop, with a great range of cheeses, with plenty of local produce as well as cheeses from all over Britain and the continent. Shopkeeper was polite, friendly and chatty. Very knowledgeable about the various cheeses. I cannot fault this place, and only wished we lived nearer.

Shops like this are few and far between and this place is just incredible. The staff are brilliant with a superb knowledge of all the cheeses. Probably one of the best shops in the south of England.

best cheese shop ever. I love it. been a customer for many years, and the recent cheese festival was incredible. probably the best one yet.
we bought delicious cheese after the festival, and again, to go with ingredients I'd specially brought in, the staff gave great recommendations for the ingredients I explained I wanted them to go with, and provided a selection of tasters to help us make our selection. explaining how each would complement and contrast to our food choices.
some of the smaller batch cheeses are like gold dust (Padstow Black Rokke, I'm looking at you ;) ) but you can always order ahead. as ever. knowledgeable staff and great cheese and accompaniments.
we'll be back. but you already know that.

I’m not sure I can quite articulate with words just my emotions of joy after visiting their cheese festival, having lived in Tavistock all my life, it is by far the best event I have ever attended. Can we have one every month please. Such an outstanding selection of everything cheese, cheese and more amazing cheese

The best cheese shop in the world. It’s lovely to see a local shop supporting local cheese makers. There is a huge variety and a great selection of sheep and goats cheeses too.
Bex is fantastic, attentive and a real expert at making sure you leave with the perfect selection.
The celebration cheese cakes are incredible and I cannot wait for the cheese fair in August!!

Unfortunately the shopping experience here is unlikely to change as they clearly don’t check their reviews. Yes, we agreed the cheese was good and we would have gone back to buy plenty more as we were in the area for some time. But when the whole experience is spoilt by quite the most rude staff I have ever come across, you don’t really feel like giving them any more of your money. No prices on anything so you have to keep asking. Clearly the quality of the cheese is keeping this place going, but in this day and age, they should also be considering their attitude towards the customer.

We enjoy the cheeses we bought on the two occasions we visited this shop, however, on both occasions we found the service unfriendly and offputting. This is a shame given the efforts given the efforts made by the cheesemakers themselves. Sadly, hard to recommend under the circumstances.

Staff need to be more customer friendly, extremely rude. No please or thank you. Won't be back. Sort the staff out

Monday before Christmas ‘20, COVID restrictions in full swing, a very long queue, socially distanced, steady rain and only 3 allowed in the shop and sadly no tasting. We waited for about 30 minutes and bought a great selection of fine cheeses but only discovered as we were leaving with the bags, that if you know what you want then order and pay when you see the queue and they have staff who deal with orders, you can wander the market or find a coffee shop and in almost no time you get told that it’s ready for collection and it’s brought out the door. Well do the next time, maybe even on Christmas or New Year’s Eve.

Fantastic cheese shop, great range of local cheeses, friendly and helpful informative staff. Taste before you buy.
Also great range of chutneys including the great Devon Fire. Also soft drinks.
