‪A great hidden spot within a busy town to meet with friends. Has plenty of space and play equipment for children. Remembrance day celebrations are held here each year. Free to enter and also contains Charnwood museum.‬

‪Amazing‬

‪Really interesting history inside mainly focused on the two world wars. The money you pay to get in goes towards its upkeep. I chatted to a really interesting veteran who really knew his stuff and was super friendly. Worth a visit if you're in loughborough.‬

‪Although this was closed when we visited, it was lovely to see and to have a walk around the gardens. Well worth a visit, and we'll plan our next one around opening hours for the museum.‬

‪A unique War Memorial‬
سبتمبر 2019
‪Situated in Queen's Park and built after the First World War as a memorial to the fallen, the Loughborough Carillon Tower was opened on 22 July 1923. There are 47 bells in the Tower, all from the John Taylor Bell Foundry in Loughborough. During the summer the bells are played every Thursday and Sunday from 1pm to 2pm. The Tower is also home to a War Memorial Museum. Unfortunately, the Tower was closed for renovation during our time in Loughborough but it is still worth visiting Queen's Park just to have a look at this unique War Memorial. Nearby, is an armature of Songster, Loughborough's War Horse, who served with the Leicestershire Yeomanry on the battlefields of France.‬

‪Wouldn’t allow entry 40mins before closing. ‬
زوجان • سبتمبر 2019
‪Arrived here on a Heritage Open Day. Having been to the Bell Foundary where the bells were made, just 10mins walk away, we were excited to finally go up and see them.

We ate a picnic in the park before we went in and were surprised at how few people appeared on the viewing platform near the top.

Very surprised then to be told 40mins before the advertised closing time that they had the maximum number of people in and denied entry. We were not even allowed to wait till other people left.
We were left wondering if the staff just wanted to go home early.
Such a disappointment for us and at least a dozen people who were turned away before and after us in the couple of minutes we stood stunned at the fact we couldn’t go in 40mins before closing.

The Carillon need to make it clear in their advertising if there is only a certain number of people allowed in, or the exact time they shut their doors. If we had known this we would have visited here first and avoided such disappointment. ‬

‪Unique in the country‬
أبريل 2019
‪A must for visitors to the town. Thursdays is often a recital day with the bells ringing out across the town. Not guaranteed as someone has to play them! It’s in Queen’s Park next to the museum and there is also a military museum sited at the bottom of the tower. Again manned by volunteers so you will need to check it’s opening times vie the towns web site.‬

The Carillon Tower has just had a major renovation paid for by Charnwood Borough Council and the War Memorials Trust. The volunteers who run the museum saw this as an opportunity to replace the display cases in the two upper floors and have made an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. We hope to re open the tower on Good Friday but it highly likely that the two museum rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor will not be ready to open for the public. Visit our website or Facebook page for any further announcements.

‪A special place‬

‪Situated on The Queens Park on Loughborough, the Carillon is a special building to commemorate those Loughborough men who gave their lives in WW1. There is a museum and it is possible to climb the stairs to the viewing gallery
Check for opening times as it is not open all the time‬
