We had a lovely welcome. The ladies in the centre were really knowledgeable and passionate. We were told how Knitsford got its name. We went to the gallery, there was a huge tapestry of the whole town, completed by hundreds of different people for the millennium. It was fascinating. There were boards of info to read. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Back at the front was a small but interesting shop. We enjoyed our visit here.

We were so pleased to have time to look around Knutsford Heritage Centre on a stormy day where we had originally intended to go to Tatton Park!
The Knutsford tapestry is simply amazing and it was so heartwarming to read the story behind it.
The ladies working in the shop were so friendly and knowledgeable, it was great to chat and learn more about Knutsford.

Visit if only to see the tapestry. Ask for an explanation as it is very interesting. Also it is free entry.

On Sat 9/10/21 I took my granddaughter to Tatton Park in Knutsford and passed by the Knutsford Heritage Centre. We were invited in by a very kind lady called Mary to have a look round. If not for her we would have missed this little gem of the town. She showed us amongst other interesting traditions of the town this wonderful tapestry made by a group of people and intrigued us with the minute details handwoven in the fabrics. My granddaughter was so happy with this short detour and of course the walk in the Tatton Park. Thank you, Mary🙏

Old center sitting in the middle of the town. Enter down a narrow alleyway. Tapestry and other items of interest. Worth a stop off.

Pleasant little place with shop attached. Ran by volunteers who tell you the history of Knutsford. A most amazing tapestry made over a number of years is the highlight.

Called at Knutsford to have a look at this Museum as we were unable to visit it a couple of weeks previously when we were there. What a pleasant surprise to see this small Museum largely about a tradition (May Queen celebrations) which was once popular in many towns and villages throughout the UK. It is great to see that it is still celebrated in Knutsford. It was amazing to see so much information, dresses and other memorabilia from past celebrations. Also the Museum houses the Millenium tapestry of Knutsford in three sections. This is a fantastic piece of work and something which should be seen if visiting the town.

The heritage centre entrance is deep into a side street while the other end of the entrance through a small lane under a building to a slightly more busy road. The centre has her larger part dressed up as a garden, in front of an exhibition hall and supported by an office. What is amazing is the collection of a beautiful tapestry that is so large to contain a story telling historical street map of the old Knutsford and the surrounding. It must be the focal point of the visit as visitors can understand better this small town.

Always excellent food,friendly staff in wonderful setting,hidden gem in Knutsford.
Set next to heritage centre off King Street,Penny farthings adorn the walls,little train goes round near ceiling to delight children,fabulous courtyard to sit on a sunny day old world charm with up to date restaurant.
Highly recommend.

If you are visiting the lovely little town of Knutsford in Cheshire - or anywhere nearby - I would strongly recommend this really interesting Centre set just behind the lower Main Street. Not only is it a pretty, hidden away location (though signposted outside) it houses the really lovely Millenium Tapestry which would be a credit to any organisation, and was produced entirely by local people. One of the volunteers, Val, gave us an excellent overview of the story behind it, pointing out interesting local buildings and features, and the little shop sells an excellent and reasonably priced book about it. The Centre often has other displays of local interest, the current one being about the Royal May Day held in Knutsford each May. That too is well worth seeing, and includes a short DVD all about it. It also has a pretty little garden outside which you can enjoy whilst there. Another hint for visitors! - the Centre is next door to the very popular Courtyard Coffee House and Restaurant, which I would really recommend. Visiting the two places in a day, and maybe calling in at Tatton Park nearby, is a wonderful recipe for enjoying your visit to Knutsford sometime soon!

Hi, you mention the shuttle bus from the airport, where will we find this at the airport? Is there a bus number or bay? And where should we get off to get to the hotel? Many thanks.

I don't think there's a shuttle bus but there are public transport buses from the airport to Knutsford. Which bus to catch depends on the day and time of travel. I don't know how much the journey would cost by taxi.
If you contact the Heritage Centre they may be able to advise on transport options.
