Mary Potter Heritage Centre is based on the Little company of Mary who was the founder of a group of nuns who tended to the sick and dying in Nottingham and eventually other countries around the world. They were also known as the blue nuns as they wore blue veils. It is a place to be visited by everyone to learn about the wonderful and valuable work carried out by these nuns and another way to learn about the history of Nottingham. The tour guides make the visit very interesting and give a warm welcome to anyone who goes

We visited the heritage centre as part of the national Heritage Open Days week, and joined a tour of the graveyard and building.
The tour was really interesting, learnt a lot of history we didn’t know about, and the tour guides were obviously really passionate about the history and had been doing their own personal research on the residents of the graveyard.
The building has a little cafe inside, it was interesting to see all the architectural changes that have been made over the years. Lovely views over the river and the bridges from the graveyard, a vantage point we’d never seen from before.

We passed this former beautiful church now a heritage centre as my twin brother Stephen and I were visiting some of the pubs over in Gateshead.
No longer a practicing church , I just loved the look of it,parts of St Mary's date back 900 years ,its a beautiful Grade I listed building that overlooks the River Tyne, walking around the cemetery is cool ,the dates on the gravestones indicate the serious history attached to this church building, its located adjacent to Sage ,it most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Oakwellgate over in Gateshead.

Even when there is not much on inside the bookshop is great and the staff friendly. Always pop in when on the quayside. Looking forward to future exhibitions

My review is based solely on my experience of St Mary's as a wedding venue and as such it is a wonderful place. My daughter held her wedding reception here in September and was thrilled with the experience. Because it's primary function is as a heritage center and not a function suite they have no bar facilities so my daughter had to arrange a mobile bar which was not a great success. Similarly outside caterers had to be organised but this side of things proved to be fine.The management were more than helpful at every stage of the planning and they went to great lengths to assist my daughter in every way. When laid out and decorated it has a delightful and magical atmosphere. If you're happy to organize some aspects of the event yourself you won't be disappointed. Lack of parking is the only negative - Gateshead council take note

do not waste your time unless you want to read a bunch of posters and look at gravestones. directions to get there are not clear. i believe the positive reviews must have come from parishioners. if i could give this a zero i would.

This place is great and you learn a lot of stuff . The staff are nice and hardly shout at you . Overall I really like this place and highly recommend it.

I think this heritage Centre is absolutely brilliant. If you are very young you get to do some singing.
