A small, unusual museum. The building was very interesting, as was the information displayed around the rooms, although steep stairs and small rooms would make it very difficult for those with mobility issues.

Not open all the time, but when it is it is worth visiting. It is run by an historical group who are there to answer questions. If you have any walking disabilities then you cannot go upstairs as it is tight and too small.

Built in AD MDII or 1502, this fascinating insight into the 16th century is worth a visit.
Three lots of very steep, narrow stairs to negotiate plus the narrowest of passages to an inner room proved a distinct challenge to this 'traditionally built" disabled lady but one that was successfully completed before a recuperatory rest by the fire!
The artefacts, exposed wattle and daub, information boards and knowledgeable guide is a bargain at £2 per person entrance fee.
Parking available nearby, no facilities, not really wheelchair friendly and perhaps a challenge too far for those who find climbing stairs difficult.

Well worth a visit although small packed with interesting items and the staff were very helpful. It will give you an insight into the way of life in the town etc over the centuries.

A small but interesting museum. Great to help fill some time when visiting or just to find out your local history. Not much room but worth a visit

This is a really quaint little museum. Although most people will struggle to spend more than a short while here there are some great exhibits to look at.
I'd guess most people only spend half an hour here but if you read everything you can spend longer.

I didn't go round the museum as I was looking for Tourist Information but the volunteers who run this museum were really helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable. They deserve huge credit for keeping this little museum going. Plus it's a lovely building and right next to the church too which has it's own story to tell...

We found this museum by accident and we are so glad we did. The exhibits give a real insight into Dereham's history and the the building is fantastic. We had a long and interesting chat with the staff. They obviously know and love their town.

Its survived fires and allsorts and is now a tourist information centre. When Dereham was ablaze a few hundred years ago by divine intervention this cottage was left intact ?
