We had a lovely afternoon on the Bude Canal. Our instructor was very patient and informative and we all felt we had learned some new skills while having fun. I would definitely recommend this. He was happy to let us try two family members per canoe even though he suspected this may not be the best configuration and was quick to rearrange us, when this didn't work well. So our teen and tween went in a canoe with him. This meant we could get the most out of our experience. Thanks to the Bude Canoe Experience for a great afternoon.

We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing trip yesterday along the Bude Canal. Our expert guide, Paul, gave us clear and concise instructions and support alongside an informative history guide of the area. It was an activity that the whole family could enjoy! Thank you

We had a fantastic day at Bude Canoe Experience. We booked the full tour all the way to the end of the Bude canal past the weir and up the river Neet. Paul is a fantastic guide who makes the tour interesting and fun. He obviously knows the area well and is hugely qualified. We didn't realise there were so many different strokes we could use! We'll definately be going out with Paul again. This is one of the best activities to be had in Bude.

Amazing experience. A very patient and knowledgeable instructor who took his time to explain all the techniques required and interesting stories about the canal. The setting is beautiful and the upper reaches lush and a little wild with excellent views of birds and other wildlife including water voles. Can’t wait to go again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time. It was a glorious day. We were taught well how to paddle and work together to control our canoe. We would definitely do this again.

We had lots of fun with Paul on the Bude Canal. It was a great day, helped out by wonderful weather. I'd highly recommend this to anyone, especially people with kids.

Paul led us on a canoeing exped up the canal at Bude. My 11yr granddaughter was initially scared of every manoevre but The excellent instruction by Paul soon had her expertly turning the canoe round, plus forwards and backwards- she got so confident she felt she could stand up in the boat without fear of falling in- believe me , a great leap forward. Paul was so patient and informative in the history and the wildlife along the canal. We felt wed been on a trip with s young David Attenborough. I highly recommend this tour and Paul. Great day, equipment and teaching. Worth every penny.

I'm so pleased you all had a great time, learned lots and of course your granddaughter loosing her inhibitions about being in a canoe. Hopefully she will go one to enjoy lots more canoeing over the years ahead as it is such a great way to get away from it all, explore and see wildlife.

My partner, two children (9 & 11), 7 month old puppy and I had a fantastic trip along Bude canal with Paul. He really tailored the trip to our specific needs, was very knowledgeable and kept the whole morning fun. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

All four of us really enjoyed the morning (kids age 11 and 14). Paul was patient and fun. A great introduction to canoeing as a family.

I would like to know the cost of this canoe experience and also if you hire out canoes to paddle without the instruction. We have paddled canoes before eg on the River Severn.

All our prices can be found on our website, but are from £35 per person depending on group size.
Unfortunately we do not hire canoes without a guide.

Yes we only do guided canoe experiences. I'm afraid we do not hire out canoes without a guide.

Are dogs allowed at Bude canoe experience, we are looking for things to do whilst camping that we can also take our Springer. Thankyou for any help. L Cornish

Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry.
No problem if you are on a river torridge trip. However, at Roadford Lake there is a rule that dogs are not allowed 'in' the lake. I'm not sure if in a canoe 'on' the lake would be ok!
