Excellent Micropub on station platform. A bit quirky. Great real ales. Friendly locals. Best pub in town. Good community cafe next door.

Visited with Boyfriend and Brother after a day out in Hartlepool whilst we waited for our train. My Boyfriend recommended it as he had been a few times.
I absolutely loved it! Would highly recommend it to anyone. So fun, quirky and unusual. So much individuality and personality. The staff we so friendly, polite, funny and chatty. The ale list on the wall with all the the descriptions and prices. Loved all the little funny added notes. You can spend ages reading all the signs, a few made me giggle.
The Ale is a good selection, lots of different ones to suit everyone. They have ciders and wine also.
The bar is small but perfect. So welcoming. Would be happy to go in alone. Look forward to returning.

Experience totally ruined by an ignorant and aggressive Landlord, who it seems is incapable of giving a civil answer to an extremely polite question. Visited three times now, but insulted twice, so won't be giving this bloke any more of my money. Shame, as the beer is fine.

Had a few quiet pints in here whilst waiting for a train and was not disappointed with the quality, choice and prices. The gentleman who runs the place is a host who is definately somewhat different and some may say a bit direct with his comments but he is definately passionate about what he serves and we could not fault the diferent offerings over several weeks. The host who I believed is called Peter is also a donkey lover and my wife was more than keen to make a donation. Some of the ales were so complex and interesting that we were sorry to not see them on the board the next time we called in as they are changed weekly or when the limited supply is gone. We particularly liked one IPA that the host described as hoppy and happy which we certainly agreed with after a couple of pints and may have even missed the train had we had another one. We will definately be dropping in next time we return to England and Hartlepool.

Interesting venue and always an eclectic choice of drinks kept as they should be. Small and quirky so take it as it is and enjoy.

Came here after being recommended. What an eye-opener. At first, the staff were very polite. As soon as I said I'm unvaxed they became extremely hostile. I really thought one was going to hit me! I have never felt so threatened. I couldn't help but think of the Nazis from the war and their hatred toward minority groups in the '30s and '40s.

Despite all the covid associated issues the Rat Race is back and in fine fettle. You need to show evidence of vaccinations etc but understandable in the circumstances including the host having had a bout of the dreaded virus.

A cracking place where you can meet complete strangers and have a great chat. The beers are spot on too. Definately worth going to.

Really poor micro pub, went last year and the owner had a terrible attitude to people wanting to use his toilet located in the station, couple of you guys needed to use it and he was very reluctant, if you want to sell ale customer need to use a loo, stop using it for your storage, avoid the cramped run down place, absolutely terrible
