Excellent archery session for me and my pal. Great instructor who made the whole session fun and interesting. Certainly plan to return.

Lake and woodland for the kids to explore. December is not the best for entertaining kids after the excitement of Christmas and we found Talkin Tarn ideal for expending some of that pent up energy experienced by both the kids and the dogs! There are 2 marked walks, we chose the shorter one sticking closer to the lake but there was plenty for the kids ….. climbing trees, feeding ducks, exploring dinghy dells etc! Not too far to walk for older members of the family either!

Booked paddle boards today for my boys. Had a fantastic time, instructor Antony was great, would highly recommend 👌

Me and 11 other ladies attended Talkin Tarn on 01/03/2020 for my hen do and did archery. The two instructors we had were absolutely amazing. It was a great laugh, fun and competitive. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to return again for more outdoor activities.

The Tarn is a tucked away in the countryside near Brampton but just follow the signs from the A69 roundabout and it is easy to find. Access is free but there is a modest charge for parking. Well worth a visit for its level lakeside walk which is well supplied with seats for those who just wish to sit, relax, enjoy the view or feed the birds. The cafe has open air seating and the prices are reasonable.

Beautiful spot local to me where i love to come walking. You can hire a boat, feed swans and ducks and eat in tea rooms

I recently spent a lovely few hours enjoying the very family, dog , everyone friendly Talking Tarn. There is a well made wheelchair, buggy, dog friendly footpath that takes you a leisurely 50 minutes stroll right around the Tarn( lake).
There are plenty of seats along the way to just enjoy the views. A good Cafe is situated as soon as you enter the Country Park so it is a nice place to visit just to have a coffee and snack. Entrance is free but there is a charge for car parking. I didn't mind this at all as the money goes to the upkeep of the footpaths etc. It was brilliant to see people picnicking on the lakeside and having quality time out.
I look forward to being in the area again and visiting Talking Tarn again.

My husband and I came here as it was just up the road from our holiday home. Lovely easy walks around the lake suitable for those with pushchairs or wheelchairs. A little muddy in places but you expect it at that time of the year. Car parking a pound for an hour or two pound for the whole day. The cafe looked busy and there was plenty for children to do including a playground and mini golf. Lots of benches around the lake to admire the view and wildlife. Would return when in the area again.

We happened by Talkin Tarn by chance. The lake is in an amazing location and is perfect to get away from it all for a few hours. We walked our grandchildren around the lake pointing out the different birds it made for a pleasant afternoon. Our reward was a nice cuppa and slice in the cafe which was reasonably priced and there was local ice cream for the kids. We finished with a play in the park area - recommended .

Beautiful walk around the tarn, topped off with a hot chocolate and cake at the upstairs café (snowy weekend, cold and crisp).
It's a snack bar rather than full restaurant, and dogs only allowed outside so we sat in the cold, but at least they accept dogs.
Downstairs is a totally separate company and doesn't accept dogs, so beware!

Hi I work with CARLISLE Mencap
