‪Great Experience but Booking System let it down‬
العائلة • نوفمبر 2021
‪The museum was a great experience, very interesting and informative and gave a good insight as to what the village went through during the plague. Having visited the village in the past, this was our first visit to the museum. However we booked in via the website in advance, but due to poor weather conditions were telephoned and asked if we could come earlier so that the museum could close early. This wasn't a problem at all but when we arrived we stood at the reception for over 10 - 15 minutes whilst a large group of people, who hadn't booked in advance and were paying on the door, were allowed entry. This resulted in us getting round the exhibition much slower, so defeating the object of asking us to arrive earlier so they could close. If you are wanting to close early due to bad weather thats understandable, but at the same time you shouldn’t be allowing unbooked visitors in. After all your website does state booking in advance. Social distancing was also difficult to manage, given this large group was allowed in on spec. This unfortunately did spoil our experience.‬

‪Fantastic visit‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪Lots of detail about the whole Eyam Plague story that we had heard about first of all during lockdown through a TV programme. Although we should have booked ahead, the gentleman on reception was very obliging and booked us in, for which we were very grateful. Was encouraged to visit related properties in the area which added to the experience further‬

‪A story well told‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪Eyam (rhymes with TEAM) museum is a little gem of a place. Take it slowly and absorb the story about what this village went through back in 1665. It is a focal point for information about the plague which blighted this tiny community. I was fortunate in meeting with the curator who is a great source of local knowledge and took time to explain many aspects of the village's history to me.
When you walk back through the village you realise that in a way the village is an extension to the museum. Many houses have signs outside listing who lived and died in the property. The Church has a stained glass window which high lights some of the events and an illuminated scroll that lists those that lost their lives, Many of the locations detailed in the museum are still there to find. In fact to this day there are families in Eyam that can trace their lineage back to those sad times.
Currently you need to book at the museum to keep numbers down for COVID reasons.

‪Unpleasant Reception at the Museum‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪What a shame the particular lady on duty at the museum this afternoon was positively hostile. Her manner was so objectionable when we wandered into the reception area to enquire about buying tickets to visit the museum, we came away without bothering. The village itself is fascinating.‬

‪Really interesting, within a pretty village.‬

‪Lots of interesting detail and illustration of the plague village and its history. Just the right amount of detail without becoming too much. Interesting comparisons with Covid.
Good covid measures, though it is quite small so quite hard to really socially distance. It is advisable to prebook as numbers are limited.
In the village you can see the plague cottages (exterior as they are lived in) and the lovely church also with its plague history - stunning related stained glass window.
A very pretty village to walk around, with stunning views as you travel there.‬

‪Great information on the Plague and the village‬
أكتوبر 2021
‪The ground floor displays are spot on - interesting, well illustrated and just the right amount of detail. The first floor displays are packed with too much info - smaller captions are hard to read. The result is that after a leisurely stroll through the ground floor, the line of visitors backed up and was solid across the first floor, backing down the stairs. 'Social Distancing' went out of the window - not a good thing in such a confined space!

The car parks were almost empty yet the solid pack of visitors on the upper floor did reduce the pleasure of the visit somewhat.

QUICK TIP: the obvious car park opposite the entrance is a 'Pay & Display'. The upper level car park behind it (less than 40 yards away is FREE!‬
