‪I was visiting again after a long break - and it really is informative and educational without being boring- without having to concentrate too much iron is explained and all associated processes and types of iron after smelting - objects are also amazing.
It serves as an excellent introduction to both the Furnace and also understanding the iron Bridge itself !
wish there had been more books for sale!
I needed an hour for this before lunch!
Very helpful staff‬

‪We arrived with only a couple of hours to look at this museum and I was a bit annoyed that the prices were not as reflected on the desk by the till, but I understood the explanation given. Then I was asked to give my name, email address and postcode which I found increasingly intrusive and absurd, after all we just wanted to visit the museum. I haven't ever been asked for these anywhere else. The museum was good but the administration was ridiculous! It tainted the visit.‬

Hi Heather, Thanks for choosing to visit the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. We're sorry to hear that you found our pricing signage confusing, all of our pricing information can also be found on our website if you want to take a look ahead of your visit. We ask that visitors provide us with their postcode, so that we can better understand our audiences. The remaining fields that you mention are voluntary, but we understand that there may have been some confusion amongst our front of house team regarding this. We will make sure to address this in future training, and can only apologise for the impact that you felt this had on your visit. Thank you again for visiting, and we hope you will visit again in the future.

‪A very interesting museum, but at £10 entrance fee, it is over priced. However there is an excellent cafe next door.‬

Hi JDP, Thanks for choosing to visit Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron. Our best value ticket is the Annual Pass, which gives you unlimited access to all ten of our museums for twelve months and costs £31.00 per adult and £20 per child, with discounts for families. I hope that helps!

‪The Gorge museum was closed because of earlier flooding, so we walked up Coalbrookdale to the Museum of Iron. It was very informative and full of exhibits, photos, plans and text. My wife and I both found it excellent and good value for the admission fee.‬

‪The Old Furnace, protected by the prismatic roof at one end of the park, is really the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Without it, the Ironbridge would simply not exist. But the whole landscape was marshalled into the ironworks - from the pools providing water power to drive the bellows, to the quarries and mines for coal, limestone and iron ore. The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust has done a great job in presenting the history and chemistry in the free Old Furnace site. (When we visited years ago, the sow and pigs were present - why have they been removed? Please put them back! It would make more sense.)

The paying Museum of Iron, in the old 1838 Great Warehouse (note the clock tower was added in 1843), gives more details on the landscape and geology, as well as providing a great display of what could be made from the metal. Examples include statues, garden and household furniture and indeed, the building itself, with its iron columns and window frames.‬

‪Probably more for iron enthusiasts this charts the history of iron production including the furnace here at Coalbrookdale. It houses many items manufactured here from cast iron.
You can even go inside the remains of the furnace itself opposite.
We visited as part of our visit to Enginuity as that took just a couple of hours max and is next door.
Spent maybe 1 hour here including the ruins.‬

‪You could easily spent a lot of time here. It had many interesting items as well as being educational. Access is free, IF, you have an annual pass for Blists Hill. The dreaded pay as you leave system in use.‬

‪Although given a hessian bag with items in it no-one explained how to use them or what they were for. We managed to fathom out some of it and when we arrived at the end of the one way system the staff member then explained what the bag was for, Disappointing from a child's perspective.‬

‪Great museum all about iron and how its made and used.

Lifts help to make it accessible to all.

Highly recommend the restaurant next door for a great lunch or a cup of tea!

You do have to pay for parking which isn't included in your ticket price. ‬
