We just dropped by and got a wonderful tasting and tour by Chloe. She was knowledgeable and gave us a great experience. Of course we ended up buying in some really good wine. Thanks a lot

Je suis venu avec une amie, le 30 mars à 14h. Nous avons passé un moment très agréable, fort conviviale. Les explications sur le domaine et son vin était très bien présentées. Le moment de la dégustation était sympathique, cela nous a permis de nous ouvrir à de nouvelles connaissances sur le vin que nous n’avions pas. Et bien évidemment cela a amené à faire quelques achats sur lesquels nous sommes plus que satisfaite ! Encore merci à la guide pour ce moment, et soyez certain de nous revoir !

Un lieu magnifique, une guide (Alexandra) exceptionnelle ont fait de cette visite dégustation un moment privilégié ! La visite vous entraîne au cœur de la fabrication et la dégustation (avec fromage) était parfaite ! Nous y sommes même retournés quelques jours plus tard pour acheter de nouveau quelques bouteilles et cette même personne a gentiment improvisé une dégustation ! Évidemment, vous faites fumer la carte bancaire car la moindre bouteille coûte autour de 50 euros, mais on ne compte pas lorsque l’on aime !

Visite très agréable surtout très instructive. Les chais sont étonnants. La dégustation en fin de visite est à la hauteur.

Nous avons encore une fois passé un superbe moment, avec un accueil chaleureux et des commentaires forts intéressants ! C'était notre troisième visite mais a chacune nous apprenons quelque chose de nouveau ! Au plaisir de la prochaine

We have been wine touring and tasting for over 25 years. This was our 5th time to Bordeaux.
Not only was this the only Chateau that forced one to pay in advance, but at 20 euros pp, the tasting was clearly not worth it.
Marion gave us a wonderful tour, and it is not her fault.
We had chosen the “Gourmet tasting - Cheeses.”
But the wines poured were a 2013 Chateau Larrivet Haut-Brion (bad vintage, bottle just opened) and a 2016 Blanc. The red was very mediocre (Parker gave it an 86) and the Blanc was very good. But both pours were extremely small, especially given the large amount of cheese on a platter.
I asked politely if we could taste another vintage. At first, Alexandra, the Manager, said no. Then she reluctantly agreed to let us taste the 2015 Red, which was very good.
Fortunately for us, this was one tour and tasting out of 8 on a four day trip, and the only time we left a Chateau disappointed.

Thank you for sharing with us your opinion about the tour you had, and your compliments to Marion.
Please accept our apologies for your disappointment about the points mentioned.
First of all, we never force our visitors to pay their tour in advance. After checking your booking, I noticed that you booked on the website Wine Tour Booking : it’s an independant company that sells tickets for wine tours in many estates (among which ours). It’s true that you need to pay directly online when you use this platform.
But this is not the only way to book a tour in Château Larrivet Haut-Brion : you can send us a message through our own website (www.larrivethautbrion.fr), or contact us by phone or email. In any case, excepting using Wine Tour Booking, you pay on the spot.
Concerning the « Gourmet tasting » with cheeses pairings, indeed we currently pour Château Larrivet Haut-Brion red vintage 2013, Château Larrivet Haut-Brion white 2016 and Château Larrivet Haut-Brion white 2007. The wines we use for tastings are regularly led to change, depending on their evolution over time, the quantity of bottles that we still have, etc… We always try to find the best pairings, but as you know, the tastes remains personal.
To be precise, we have chosen the red 2013 because, among the vintages that we have, it’s a ready to drink vintage (for example softer tanins than other vintages).
By the bye, we cannot talk about a bad vintage, but rather a « difficult vintage » : it means that considering the climatic conditions and the consequences on the vines’ development that year, the work of our teams (in the vineyard and in the cellars) was more arduous, in addition to the particular attention that we habitually bring to each step.
Denigrating a vintage, whatever it is, would amount to ignore the work of the estate. Moreover, this work has been rewarded by the « Guide Hachette » (a French guide book about the wines) for our red 2013.
Considering the number of vintages of our shop, unfortunately we cannot systematically open the bottle asked by each visitor, in which case we would have lots of wastes. And the vintage 2015 is not included in the « Gourmet Tasting » since we think that, currently, Château Larrivet Haut-Brion red 2013 is more appropriate for the cheese that we use. As I said, it’s a question of personal taste, but it allows you to understand why we first refused to let you taste another vintage.

je voudrais savoir si le vin est élevé en cuve inox et connaître le prix d'une barrique en chêne

Notre vin est élevé en barriques. Nous ne vendons malheureusement pas de barriques aux particuliers, vous devriez peut-être vous rapprocher d'une tonnellerie ou d'une autre propriété viticole.
