This year too we returned to Bormio at the end of February. We were lucky this time too because it was a period of bad weather with heavy snowfall but we hit two days of clear weather in between. Even though it was relatively warm the slopes at high altitude, groomed every evening after five, were in order thanks to the recent snowfalls and it went well..

With a difference in altitude of approximately 1800 m, the Bormio ski area is able to satisfy not only more or less expert skiers, but also lovers of the mountains and its landscapes.
There are numerous ski lifts that allow you to reach the peaks of Bormio 3000 and Cima Bianca.
At the bottom of the valley it is possible to find various infrastructures and rentals that allow you to rent skis and professional sports equipment, as well as the main car parks, the ski bus stop to reach the lifts on foot and the entrance to the cable car, where you can purchase the ski pass.
At the summit there are many slopes that can be followed, although some are often not accessible due to unforeseen events, races or maintenance.
Most of the 17 slopes in the area are red of medium difficulty and can be reached in a few minutes by chairlift. There are also five blue slopes for beginners equipped with tapis and ski lifts, only one black slope (Le Betulle), as well as the snow park and the obstacle course. Funslope Valbella.
On the slopes there are numerous refreshment points and refuges where you can stop for a quick lunch or après-ski.
Organize yourself in advance by checking the weather (often very variable at the summit) and if you can get ahead by purchasing the ski pass online, you will avoid unnecessary queues. Bear in mind that the area is always very busy, the main road is a cul de sac and generally not particularly organised: many of the ski lifts are quite old and it is not uncommon to come across slopes that are little traveled or completely frozen.
The strong point is the truly priceless panorama and to appreciate it even more it is possible to reach the town directly on skis along the Stelvio, the slope that annually hosts the World Cup downhill race.
⚠️Important: by purchasing the ski pass for the Bormio Skipass area, the area of Santa Caterina and Cima Piazzi-San Colombano is also included, for a total of approximately 117 km of slopes also connected with a ski bus service (free for ski pass holders ).
However, keep in mind that ski pass prices are dynamic and vary based on the day, the type of formula chosen and also based on the age of the skier, so check them in advance.

I went there on a Saturday with some friends. The slopes seemed ungroomed, piles of snow everywhere, loose snow, very difficult to ski
queues at every lift, old lifts. €80 ski pass. I would say there is much better

if you are a beginner, check the total carefully, the lady who sells the tickets always tries to cheat, it happened to me twice, unfortunately I trusted her and after having done the 3 days including the cable car she made me pay €26 separately without any reason if ask for info, she always rushes me the first time, instead of charging the child €12 she charged €17 and then when you realize it's too late so watch out for the adult lady with graying hair get the tickets online if you can it costs 25% in unless you don't risk being ripped off and don't queue which is absurd at the weekend

We were in Bormio as a group of 12 people, 6 adults and 5 teenagers plus a 7 year old girl.
The location is very pretty, the center is interesting to visit.
The ski slopes are well served although as a beginner I had difficulty because there are few blue ones and to go along them you often have to affirm a red point.
One day they closed a chairlift due to the wind and the queue that was created to go up was impossible.
The Bormio spa is a water asylum, very crowded and anything but relaxing, the adult area is frequented by nudists without any warning.
All in all I recommend going to Bormio for skiing if you are a bit advanced.
Forget the spa unless you have kids to let off steam and very powerful earplugs.

Paid parking, expensive ski pass for the services offered, kilometric queues, rude assistance. You are a thousand years behind Trentino or Switzerland. Shame. In 5 hours I managed to do 3 runs

Unfortunately you can't give zero dots, but that would be the case! WORST SKIING OF MY LIFE!
In the 2 hours we spent we did 2 slopes and skied for 12 minutes with endless queues at the lifts (cable car to Bormio 3000 plus 1 goldsmith waiting).
Now I understand the Pocket coffee advert "one hour to get up, one minute to get off".
On top of everything, the cable car to Bormio 3000 crashes into the trees below, meaning the safety level is below zero.
The slopes are poorly groomed or not even groomed, and there is a lack of safety nets.
You would make a better impression by keeping it closed and opening when you have a good number of slopes/facilities available, a scandal!
NEVER AGAIN IN THIS SKI RESORT!

Great skiing December to April which is a very long season. Beautiful Medieval town by the mountain with the ancient Roman Spas, so never boring after the skiing.
Also the prices are amazing in comparison to most of other ski places in Alps!

Guten Tag.

Hello from Kazakhstan!
I have some questions regarding Bormio ski resort. My husband and I have never been in this part of Italy, but we are really attracted by the termes. So, as I am researching on our next ski destination, I am thinking of Bormio. At the same time, if I understand this correctly, if we choose to stay in Bormio [to be close to termes], as far as SKIING goes, Bormio ski resort by itself is not that large.
How is the ski resort connected to the rest of Alta Valtellina region? Do we have to travel to other resorts that are a part of Alta Valtellina region by bus? Or are they connected by lifts?
If they are not connected by lifts and the only way to reach other resorts is by bus, how long does the bus ride take?
Any advice on this matter from people who’ve been to Bormio and Alta Valtellina region to ski will by appreciated!
Thanks,
Larisa

Hello Larisa,
you are going to love our mountain region and the thermal baths!
The ski area of Bormio counts a total of 50 km of ski slopes.
With the same ski pass, though, you can also ski in Santa Caterina (35 km) and in Cima Piazzi-San Colombano (25 km).
The price of the lift ticket includes free bus shuttle to move from our ski area to another.
Distances are minimal: for example, from Bormio Ski to Santa Caterina the ride takes about 20 minutes (12 km); or from Bormio Ski to Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain the ride takes 15 minutes (8 km).
And if you would like to explore more you can also go skiing to Livigno (36 km away from Bormio).
Kind regards
Fabio

Situazione neve ed impianti aperti volendo sciare a Bormio, partiremo giovedì 29 marzo. Grazie
Grazie Cristina

Neve tanta in abbondanza e in ottime condizioni !
