Bello ma sconosciuto al mondo. L'albergo presso cui eravamo ci ha dato i biglietti e lo abbiamo scoperto in questo modo. Da valutare molto di più.

Il Museo è ben organizzato, ci sono reperti di varie epoche storiche, ritrovamenti di tombe e relativi oggetti. Il percorso prosegue all’esterno dove si trova un anfiteatro romano che è possibile visitare anche all’interno. Consigliatissimo soprattutto con le belle giornate!

Museo piccolo ma interessante. Dopo le tre sale interne (purtroppo senza aria condizionata) ha un'area esterna che contiene una necropoli, una tomba monumentale, un'anfiteatro e un pezzo di antica strada romana con il basamento di un'antica porta cittadina. Da visitare preferibilmente in periodo fresco.

Siamo stati ieri al Museo, il personale (che ringraziamo di cuore, è stato gentilissimo, ci ha accolto con grande affabilità e ci ha guidato nella scoperta dei reperti. Ha solo 3 stanze, ma magnifici pezzi e un letto funerario in osso che ci ha lasciati senza parole, un pezzo molto raro, mai visto in altri musei archeologici. la particolarità del museo è che da fuori è un piccolo edificio, ma dentro include un intero pezzo di città e di storia con l'anfiteatro romano e una antica strada. Ci dobbiamo assolutamente tornare per godere meglio e più a lungo la parte antica, visto che essendo piovuto e con l'erba alta non era del tutto praticabile.

Questo museo è stato per tutti noi una piacevole scoperta .
E il percorso archeologico che lo circonda è stupendo .
Il museo è composto da tre stanze ove sono contenuti tanti ritrovamenti di grande interesse.
Dal museo si va all'anfiteatro che ti fa fare un tuffo nella Roma antica.
Assolutamente da visitare!

Just want to say that this museum is just fantastic and the staff are so help full.
Maura took the time to show me around the whole site as it was quiet this time of year. It is not to be missed if you are coming to Cassino.

Come al solito le migliaia di meraviglie italiane lasciate all’incuria seppellite da erbacce e inaccessibili per sedie a rotelle o passeggini! Vale sempre la pena vederle però che peccato...

Piccolo, ma ricco museo con percorso fra i resti ben conservati dell’anfiteatro.All’interno splendido letto in avorio.Peccato non si possa visitare il Teatro Romano,restaurato,ma chiuso per motivi burocratici.

I am writing this review in English because I feel the amphitheater and the small museum of Cassino deserve to be better known not only among Italians but by art lovers from abroad as well. I myself live in Naples, barely an hour and a half from the site, but had never heard of it. The amphitheater is quite well preserved , situated outside the wall of ancient Casinum, and it can be easily reached by walking along the Roman road that borders the wall. It is believed to have accommodated an audience of 4500, but I guess that if the tiers whose pieces are scattered around were restored, it would show a greater capacity.
In a very unusual position, inside the town’s wall, is the majestic tomb of Ummidia Quadratilla, recalling a Greek tholos. An awesome monument in celebration of a woman, deserving by itself the whole trip.
The amphitheater and the tomb date back to late Republican age (late 1st century B.C to early first century A.D.) while the museum displays exhibits from the ninth century B.C. down to the Roman Empire, showing that the Cassino area was populated by a number of cultural groups in the course of time.
Last but not least, a big thank you to the kind ladies who , despite being on duty on a hot humid June Sunday, supplied us with a great deal of helpful information so that we could make the best of our visit.
