Well maintained village and really beautiful view, shame the organization. Christmas time with Christmas markets (7 stalls), bagpipes in the streets (we are still looking for them), village (of what? What do they mean?). Not to say absurd that Saturday before Christmas almost all closed, restaurants and pizzerias. We barely found 2 sandwiches to eat that calling them sandwiches is already overestimating them. Only positive culinary note "pastry Grammatico"

The historic village of Erice is a jewel: maintained and cared for very well! You arrive by cable car or bus. The views from the Balio Garden are spectacular!

Borgo Storico Erice is the old town of this very cute Middle-Ages town called Erice and it is located in the North-Western part of Sicily Island. It is a very nice town, where you can walk and relax and visit a lot of monuments that are included in the Erice Card, which you can buy in the tourist office. We visited it in last December and pitifully some parts are closed like the castle and Bailo Gardens, but we could visit some churches, the main cathedral, we could go up to the bell tower and enjoy the views and also we visited some remains of the old town like gates walls and palaces. Also, we visited Torreta Peppoli, from which you can see the best views of the coast and Palermo. Very beautiful place.

The old town of Erice occupies the top of a small mountain that has made its fortune as a strategic point in the past and for the slightly cooler climate nowadays. The village has maintained a medieval imprint and it is pleasant to walk through its streets.

Charming town in perfect medieval style. There are many ancient churches that contain very precious works, and among them the Mother Church with its bell tower from the top of which the view of Trapani, the salt pans and the Egadi Islands sweeps. A visit to remember!

Little to say about the village of Erice.
Conceptually it is beautiful, the view that you can then enjoy from the Castle of Venus is something that takes your breath away so much is ... magnificent.
Then why such a bad grade?
Because we're sick of total commodification with the history of "small Italian villages."
Starting from the parking, obviously hard to find (but you can 'do it) at 2 euros an hour.
In the village any church / monument / ruin / museum is charged, then here is the "Erice Card" which costs 15 euros, frankly too much for what there is to see.
Scandalous that at the tourist office, if you ask for a map of Erice you hear "...ah, but it is only provided if you buy the card...". Otherwise you pay for that, too, one of those disposable maps that you find everywhere for free. But not Erice.
Ah, but with the card there is a 10% discount in the famous bakery etcetera etcetera.
While in the famous bakery pushes to enter among groups of pensioners from every nation that occupy all the spaces for the usual deadly and useless selfies.
If you manage to get into the famous bakery you will pay more or less as in Via MonteNapoleone in Milan.
The whole town is a succession of shops with the usual stereotyped trash for sale.
It makes you want to escape, or - at least - head to the Castle to admire the quintessence of beauty.
And now more and more beauties mortified by mass tourism.

The village of Erice is worth a visit, offering views to admire and monuments to visit. I spent a few hours in this place having a pleasant lunch in one of its many restaurants

We came to visit the village with so much enthusiasm...... too bad we started with the info banquet at the entrance, with a ticket of 15 € per person (but they specified the country you do not pay!) I would not have paid because disabile.fatti 10m we arrive at the cathedral, and here we are told that we had not made the card at the entrance we have to pay x enter, here xo 'have become 12,50 € but I have to pay even if disabled!!!! I wonder about a whole family????
To conclude, the village "cute" but the money is not worth the expense!
Only thing to review and definitely return to the entrance the round that sold the arancine "Spectacular"

Difficult to find parking, the only one available is very small, you have to park km away on the road and then walk it with the torch in hand.
Difficult climb that distinguishes this stone village, small, cute but with few rooms and few shops.
Very difficult to walk on the stones of the streets, shiny and slippery while wearing non-slip shoes is hard not to fall...
However it is worth going at least once in a lifetime
