Outstanding hike. The best way to see the Amalfi Coast. Even though we picked a day with rain, wind and hail, it was the highlight of our trip.

Super hike. We booked with a company as it was much easier than the public transport route. We were picked up in Sorrento and driven to Bomerano which took about an hour. We hiked with the guide to near Nocelle on the top path first and then we returned on a lower path via a shepherd’s hut where we were served delicious bread, tomatoes, cheese and homemade honey and wine.It was about 3 hours hiking with lots of stops and information from the excellent guide. I thoroughly recommend it. The views were stunning.

Started the hike in Bomerano in a fog which became spots of open areas enough to see see the water. Even though it was clouds, it was a beautiful hike to Noelle and cleared up to see the Positano coast line. The last 1700 stairs down to Positano was a treat!

This is a path for donkeys and goats who don't mind irregular rocks. It would be challenging in dry conditions. However the day we went; heavy fog, severe winds, rain and hail. We made it half way and turned back. The rocks were slippery and I was amazed none of us were injured. Thank heavens the guide turned us back.

A fabulous hike (we did downhill to Positano) but not for the faint hearted. I'm not an experienced hiker and found parts of this walk a little scary i.e. hugh cliffside drops on very rocky paths here and there. I would not recommend this hike for older or infirm people as those we came across on the hike were having trouble and once you start, turning back is uphill and tiresome and carrying on is a long long hike. On the upside the views are spectacular but I was looking at my feet most of the time in order not to slip. What I imagined was going to be an easy walk turned out to be challenging. For intrepid hikers I assume it would be a great hike but just be careful if you aren't used to hiking.

Walked this route with an experienced walk guide. We were a group of 11, mostly late 60's early 70's.
It was a great walk, taxing in places with some rock scrambling and narrow paths. We all managed to safely complete the walk in around 3 hours with several photo and information stops along the way.
The weather was sunny, 24C, and we had clear skies and amazing views. All in all it was a great experience in ideal conditions.

Done it today from Bomerano downhill and had some very difficult time about 1 hour from from the start after the trail splits into 2 separate parts, we took lower part as it was suggested to be more panoramatic.
Maybe it was because I did not sleep much night before, maybe it was strong coffee before we start trial, there were exposed sections with huge drop, I started to feel unwell, panic attack, vertigo, looking down the cliff or something, I started to feel dizzy and could not continue exposed path, neither return back. I tried several times and always fell sick, panic, pressure in the head and had to return to less exposed spot. At the end we climbed bit higher towards some ruins and found less exposed path above the original path, then both paths join together and the cliffs below are less exposed, there are trees covering the drops below. We have seen some other people having similar problems. Maybe if I took higher path, it would be less exposed. Otherwise easy hike if you take it downhill from Bomerano, uphill would be more challenging, especially in hot or wet weather. I consider myself as experienced hiker, done lots of mountain climbs, I just don't like being in unsecured exposed places, path was not too narrow, about 1 meter wide, in total, there were maybe 3 exposed sections 30-40 meters long, could be done easily and safely if I did not start panic and feel unwell. Probably would be better to take higher section after the path splits. I was surprised that I run into such problems on the hike I was expecting to be very easy.

Great hike.
We had a variety of abilities in our group and found it an enjoyable way to pass the day. We underestimated our water amount and that was almost an issue so pack more than you think you need!
We got the SITA bus to Bomerano and finished the walk in Positano
The path is quite well marked if you keep your eyes peeled for the correct markings and we followed a route on Strava for those who have that as at times it seems like the exact route is down to the people you meet on the path!
Beware of the 1,700 steps at the end - taxing!

Hey! I am traveling to Sorrento at the beginning of ctober (first solo trip! ) and I am looking into booking the walk of God's. Does anyone know any information on this, as to where is best to book and whats the best (and cheapest way) to get too and from the best pick up location? Thanks!

Highly recommend a personal guide. We used ZiaLucy out of Positano, who was highly recommended to us, and her guide, Luca, was amazing. We started at Bomerano and ended above Positano, after a 3.5 hour hike. Getting transportation to and from is not easy. We ended up hiring a private car to Bomerano. Then Luca arranged for a public bus from high above Positano down, but it was too crowded for us and we hopped off and walked all the way down, then took a private boat arranged with La Sabilla (fantastic) back to Amalfi. The private tour was 210 euro for our group of 3, which I thought was very reasonable and so worth it! The path is very challenging physically, much of it small rocks up and down. We were so thankful we had a guide to help us navigate.

Hello! Just looking at posts about the path of the Gods. I am wondering how long the walk takes from Bomerano, after getting dropped off there, back to Positano to the beach.
Thank you!

Sorry for the delayed response, didn’t see your question earlier. Once in Bomerano, you are really at your own pace and it’s so beautiful, it’s not something you want to rush. I remember that we took the 10:00 am bus from Amalfi to Bomerano and the last boat (believe it was about 5 pm) back to Sorrento where we were staying. I’m guessing we were in Positano by 3 pm because there was a nasty rainstorm that blew in about 3:30 & we were grateful to be off the trail. You can do the hike in 21/2 to 3 hrs. But hey, stop & smell the ocean air, it’s fantastic!

Hello. We are planning on parking in Bomerano and hiking only half way to Nocelle and back to Bomerano. We have children and don't think they can handle the full hike. Will we still have great views during the first half of the trail? Thanks in advance.

The whole hike is incredible! I loved the views of the terraced farms in the beginning of the hike. You should be able to make it to the first water fountain from Bomerano, that view is spectacular!
P.S. I’m from Lima, Ohio and we saw some fellow Buckeyes on the trail.
I absolutely loved the Path of the Gods!

Hi - I enjoyed your review! Last October we hiked Path of the Gods from Bomerano to Nocelle and had the best lunch ever. It was challenging as I have a bad ankle. However we are headed back again this year and are considering doing the leg from Nocelle to Positano - are the views wonderful? I know it's about 2000 steps - is that part worth it? How long did it take you for that part? Thanks~
PS - I have no idea how I ended up with the silly name I have on Trip Advisor - need to change it!

What is the best car service to get from Sorrento to the start of the trail? Is it worth getting a car instead of taking the 2+ hour bus trip?

It is definitely worth hiring a driver to take you to the start of the hike. We hired Sorrento Car Service and they are wonderful! Our driver picked us up in Praiano and dropped us off at the trailhead in Bomerano.
The drive is beautiful. The bus ride would take about two hours, and then you would start the hike much later in the morning.
We then took a boat taxi back to Praiano from Positano. That was a very reasonable way to travel!

Hi! I am staying in Postiano. Once morning I would like to go to Fiordo di Furore and then do the Path of the Gods hike. What is the fastest way to get to the trail from Fiordo di Furore?
Celia P
مونتريال, كندا878 مساهمة
Fiordo di Furore is apparently closed due to rocks falling, but if you’re starting from there you have to take the little stairs going all the way up until you reach Bomerano. The stairs are not cleared and you’ll get full of mosquito bites. Our hotel was located half way between the Fiordo and Bomerano and it take 30 mins going up or down the stairs both ways. Therefore, if you don’t want to hike for an hour before starting the actual hike of the Path of the Gods, you’re better off taking the SITA bus. Check the schedule as it changes every now and then. The bus is normally 1.30€ each way.

We are doing the walk tomorrow morning but are unsure if shorts are suitable or if 3/4 or full lengths trousers are better suited. Please could someone advise?
