4 km di circonferenza percorribili a piedi (solo all'inizio in macchina). Bella passeggiata. Vista panoramica dall'alto vicino all'uscita tangenziale.

Lago situato tra bacoli e pozzuoli in prossimità del lago Lucrino. La cosa che mi è piaciuta è che c'è la possibilità di costeggiare l'intero lago. La passeggiata è lunga circa un 2.5- 3 km. C'è una parte della passeggiata con mattonelle adatta anche al passaggio delle auto ed al parcheggio ed un altra parte molto più naturale ed ombreggiata. Paesaggisticamente non c'è male ma sicuramente c'è di meglio. La passeggiata immersa nel verde ad ora fresca è molto rilassante. Le cose che non mi sono per nulla piaciute sono l'assenza totale di fontanelle cosa importantissima per chi va a correre intorno al lago. C'è solo una fontanella in tutto. Un altra pecca è l'assenza di attività, non ci sono bar dove poter consumare. C è solo un ristorante che ho trovato chiuso e poi un centro cinofilo dove poter acquistare bevande. Il lago purtroppo è davvero povero di attività che lo costeggiano.

Lago di origine vulcanica, sembra che non si riesca a misurare la profondità, quindi si dice che sia la porta degli inferi.
A volte si trovano dei pesci morti forse per gas vulcanici o mancanza d'ossigeno o temperature elevate.

Posto incantevole, si può fare una gradevole passeggiata lungo tutto il perimetro del lago. I servizi (ristoranti, attività …) ci sono, ma non aspettatevi l’offerta di una località internazionale

According to tales, in this lake is located the gate to the underworld. We came here because saw a documentary of mysteries where the host showed the “gate” with a device measuring the level of carbon dioxide and explained that priests used to placed animals there where they die to show the power but as written before never found that place (most probably off-limits).
This lake is linked to the Golden Bough myth (Aeneid, book 6); there are remains of an old circular structure called temple of Apollo (sibyls worshipped Apollo but is not clear if that was a bathhouse) and there is a tunnel built during the early Roman period that connects with the town of Cumae but it is normally closed for the public. Once Lake Avernus was connected to the sea but a series of earthquakes in the XVI century changed the landscape of the area.
Nowadays is more a tranquil lake where locals jog, bike, dog walk, birdwatch, not particularly attractive for a foreigner specially if traveling with a tight itinerary because time is precious. But if there is a special occasion that they open that tunnel with live reading excerpts of all the myths connected with this lake with Cumae historical tour, wine tasting and happen to be here in the area, it will be a great opportunity.

Una tranquilla passeggiata in un'oasi naturalistica. Un posto in qualche modo affascinante e misterioso (la leggenda narra che proprio qui ci fosse la porta degli inferi!), un luogo di nidificazione di diversi specie di uccelli. Passeggiando lungo la circonferenza del lago, ci si imbatte nel Tempio di Apollo, edificio termale che sfruttava le fumarole del lago. Da vedere.

Passeggiata rilassante, percorso facile adatto a tutti, bambini compresi. Percorribile anche in bike. Un quarto del giro è asfaltato e aperto alle auto che possono raggiungere i ristoranti e locali disseminati su lungolago.. Peccato, perché è necessario guardarsi intorno e fare attenzione alle auto. Il secondo tratto invece è immerso nella natura, di facile percorrenza e con una paesaggistica incantevole. I boschetti dagli arbusti sottili e altissimi circondano le rive del lago donando per un tratto un'ombra fresca assai piacevole. La superficie del lago è increspata dalle scie delle papere, presenti in specie diverse e non usuali che compongono la fauna di questo luogo davvero incantevole.

Si tratta di un luogo pubblico aperto sia dalla parte alta panoramica (Via Domiziana) che proprio intorno al lago.
Ovviamente non c'è nulla da pagare.
