‪Well worth the visit , we battled the Antwerp ring road .

Not much to read online about this fort online or within the guidebooks but well worth the visit

Great value for money , we parked on the street but could see an actual car park within the grounds .

At the time of our visit the disabled toilet was out of use but they still had facilities .

The actual museum was really informative and several languages for the audio guide included in visit

It is as always a stark reminder of the awful days of concentration camps, the days of occupation and torture for those caught up in securing our freedom .

As many say it is comforting to see the youth of today on school trips . Admittedly many not paying attention but if a few walk away educated , then we have hope

If I have to be critical is it merely to say very little English on the panels however we all have phones for Google translate so not an issue merely an observation

For me the enduring memory is the firing squad area and the dampness of the place

Well worth a trip‬

‪A voir absolument pour les amateurs d'histoire mais aussi pour que cela ne se reproduise plus chez nous.
C'est le fort de la Gestapo où furent emprisonnés des résistants avant la déportation.
Visite de facile 2 heures avec commentaires audio guide.
Parking gratuit
Personnel fort aimable, ils nous ont aidé à chercher un de nos ancêtres qui était passé par ce sinistre endroit en 1941.‬

‪É uma visita de grande importância, que retrata muito bem a história.
Aconselho a visita, o preço é adequado, dura cerca de 45 minutos sem os audioguides.
Para as pessoas mais sensíveis o ambiente pode tornar-se um pouco pesado.‬

‪Very moving and interesting visit to Breendonk‬

‪We saw the good reviews so we chose this concentration camp as the place we wanted to see the horrors of WW2 and for our children to see what some people went through in the war.

This concentration camp is perfectly preserved and you get a small feel of what life might have been like for the prisoners of Breendonk. Of course no one can imagine the horrors but the audio guide is concise but gives detail that lets you hear the awful stories, but you can see for yourself the awfulness of the conditions.

We spent 2 hours there listening and looking. We didn't feel rushed around, which I've heard is common in many of the more famous camps. We took our time to experience this camp and I could have spent longer but the teenagers had their fill after 2 hours.

I hope others go here to try to understand that we can never go through this type of war again and we cannot allow people to be treated in this way. ‬

‪Ennesima testimonianza della brutalita' umana‬

‪Forte originariamente costruito per scopi militari e riadattato, con l'occupazione Nazista a prigione e campo concentramento per oppositori politici e elelmenti sgraditi al regime.
Varie le testimonianze di sopravvissuti che hanno potuto far avere giustizia alla tanta sofferenza patita. Durante la visita alle camerate, con i letti ed i pagliericci ci si sente oppressi dalla tristezza, particolarmente durante la visita alle celle di isolamento, piccolissime e buie, in cui centinaia di persone hanno trascorso periodi di terrore. Uno dei tanti luoghi della memoria da visitare per ricordarci di quali attrocita' sia capace l'essere umano.‬

‪Je kunt op eigen tempo de route door het fort bewandelen, en stap voor stap de gratis audiotour volgen die beschrijft wat je ziet. Heel erg indrukwekkend wat hier gebeurd is, en nog indrukwekkender dat een groot deel ook nog gewoon erbij staat zoals toen. Incl. Inrichting.
Je bent zéker 3 uur zoet. Enige minpunt zijn de televisieschermen met beeldfragmenten die zo luid zijn, dat de audiotour niet meer te horen is. Ook zou een toilet in het fort zelf, geen overbodige luxe zijn. (Er is een toilet in het kassagebouw dat ver buiten het fort ligt)‬
