Amazing experience. We spent 3 weeks in Switzerland and this was definitely one of the highlights. Be fair warned- bring water and use facilities before you start your hike. The ascent is VERY steep, but the bridge and view are 100% worth it. Walking poles would have been very helpful- especially on the way down. There is portable toilet at the bridge. We saw a magnificent Ibex on the trail on the way home. 10/10 would recommend doing this adventure.

The train ride from Zermatt and the hike are both well worth the view and all the beautiful pictures.

Indrukwekkend. Een ervaring voor iemand met behoorlijk wat hoogtevrees. Schitterende omgeving. De lange klim omhoog waard.

Mooie maar pittige wandeling naar de brug. Het is wel echt de moeite waard.

Nous avons fait cette randonnée en 5h (aller/retour) le 25 avril 22...nous ne sommes pas spécialement des sportifs , l'ascension est très raide tout le parcours et cela dès le début du village de Randa. Nous avons eu de la neige vers la dernière demi heure d 'ascension. C est très bien fléché on ne peut pas se tromper.
Nous avons eu la change d être seul sur la passerelle qui était ouverte, ( en fait on a croisé qu un groupe de jeunes sur le chemin de forêt donc c était cool. )
La météo était mi figue mi raisin....soleil, nuages et un peu de pluie mais ça n a pas été trop désagréable
Une bonne expérience c était sympa.

Pour y arriver, il faut monter….. Et ça grimpe dur. Comptez environ 2 heures pour y accéder. Mais l’effort est récompensé une fois arrivé en haut. Ce pont ne tenant que dur deux axes est incroyablement long, le spectacle est unique. La traversée n’est pas vraiment impressionnante car le pont ne bouge pas contrairement a d’autres en Suisse. Bref, si vous êtes dans la région, ne vous privez pas

attention ne pas se fier aux panneaux indiquant le temps que vous allez mettre pour monter et redescendre. La descendre est vraiment difficile et longue pour un marcheur moyen...

Seitdem die Brücke eröffnet wurde wollten wir dorthin. Nach 2 anstrengenden Stunden steil bergauf wandern, erreicht man die wunderschöne Brücke. Man fühlt sich glücklich, dass man das Ziel erreicht hat und der Ausblick auf das Weisshorn ist unvergesslich! Egal ob man ein erfahrener Wanderer ist oder nicht: die Anstrengung lohnt sich auf jeden Fall! Und ganz besonderen Dank an die freundliche und sehr simpatische Mitarbeiterin vom Informationsbüro in Randa. Für jeden, ein "muss"!

Hi, I would like to do the Europe Trail this summer. Since I am afraid of heights and the Charles Kuonen Suspension bridge seems above my tolerance limit, I was wondering whether it is possible to by-pass it (without descending to Randa ;-) ). On Open Street Map it seems like there is a path that crosses the valley-floor of the Dorfbach close to the suspension bridge. Am I allowed to take this path and is it safe ?

Well, most dogs really don't like to walk over grating or suspended walkways where they can look down. Mine was very brave except for things like that. And it is 494 m or 1,621 ft long. So I wouldn't advise planning to do it with your dog. That said, when we went over it, in the morning, there was no one else around so no one to upset..

Trying to plan a day trip to Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge from either Lucerne or Zermatt. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We stayed in Tasch & caught train to Randa 1 stop away, It takes aprox 2 to 3 hours to reach the bridge - good luck

Can you please advise if there is a charge/fee to do this walk? I ask, because our proposed hike date is a public holiday in Switzerland, so want to make sure its not closed.

Opened all year - a steep walk for 2 hours - Have a good time.
Is there enough room to walk a bike over the bridge? Is the trail to the bridge bike friendly? It is too long of a hike from where I'm staying in Zermatt but I am hoping I can bike it.

The bridge is not that wide, if there is nobody else on the bridge you could take your bike, but to get there from Randa it us impossible to take your bike. Better park it somewhere in the village

Alors oui c'est possible avec votre fille, si elle a l'habitude de faire des marches et si elle est en bonne condition physique. Oui c'est possible de faire une boucle. Vous pouvez vous renseigner à l'office du tourisme de Randa, localité sur la route de Zermatt.
Pour information vous pouvez parquer votre véhicule à proximité de l'église de Randa, le départ pour monter à la passerelle est là,
