‪A mosque minaret in Konstanz was a surprise‬

‪It was visible on the main road as we drove to the restaurant right along the Rhine for lunch. After a hearty meal to take a walk back to the hotel, to respond to my curiosity I walked in to visit the mosque.

The entrance to the mosque is not a welcoming one as one reviewer mentioned. However, it is not for me to judge under what circumstances it was built and when. It is perfectly functional and although the front entrance is through a market with stores and a cafe on the ground floor. Possibly the rental income pays for the upkeep and allows the community to sustain it.

All credit to the hosts to have allowed a place if worship for the minority. A sign of tolerance and acceptance of diversity of ethnicity and religions. May others follow that example of peaceful co-existence.‬
