Two sister lakes .. Kentucky & Alleyne… both with the most tropical clear blue waters … awesome for a paddle, fishing or ice fishing in winter … a 4K east lake hike around Kentucky…
there are 3 campsites … Kentucky which is 3/4 reservable …as of March 2022 Alleyne & Forest loop all first come sites for $18 a night … Kentucky & Alleyne are very small sites … if you have a trailer more than 20ft you should go to the Forest loop … all sites have fire pits and very nice picnic tables … no flush toilets, only pit toilets … there is a stocked kids only fishing pond awesome for little ones to make their first catch … there is drinking water but sometimes there is a boil water advisory… cell service very sketchy but a 5 minute drive you have great service for those require being connected… it is high altitude camping, do plan for cooler evenings and hot days …
wildlife such as bears, cougars, deers etc live in this area so be bear aware, keep site clean and food locked away … all types of bird watching from hummingbirds to bald eagles … a gorgeous park!!
Day use is very busy and very limited parking especially on weekends… as is camping very busy … with all that said it is well worth stopping you will be amazed in all its natural beauty .. and fall in love with this provincial park!

Such a beautiful lake and great management by Karen and Guy. We love the basic rules layed out for all govt. campgrounds. Reason being, they are cut and dry. Easy to follow.
During our stay, a group of mature campers showed up and felt they had the right to bend rules in their favor. Noisy after hours, either running their generator outside of the allowable hours or loud outside after quiet time 10pm, leaving their personal goods on our campsites and complaining when we moved their stuff out of the way, holding another campsite all day with their personal belongings so anyone looking for a site wouldnt take it.... and then not renting it at days end, etc. Luckily for us Karen was on it quickly and enforced the rules with them. Thank you Karen for saving all us rule abiding campers and making our stay a relaxed enjoyable experience. Kudos !!

Just an FYI that the map header at the top of the reviews is the incorrect location for this campground. I have contacted TA support to advise them of the error. This campground is located just Southeast of Merritt BC along highway 97C.

Alleyne lake is really pretty. The camping areas are nice, however in my understanding you have to book in advance to use the picnic tables near the lake and the fee is reasonable. What takes away the 5th star is how the park staff was a bit of a passive aggressive when she came to let us know that was just an overnight camping spot. She shooed us like a bunch of chickens, even telling us not to leave any trash behind which I think was not really needed! We are civilized as far as I know, it's just that it was our first time to be there and didn't really know how the park operates. We could have gladly paid the 18 dollars they charge for overnight users for less than a couple of hours of using the picnic table if were given the option to. They could use more picnic tables for day use and train staff not to be rude.

This campground is situated on lakes that are the most brilliant turquoise that they almost look like tropical seas! The campsites are well maintained and the outhouses clean and well taken care of. The trail around the lake is a pleasant, easy walk.

Despite the official website for this campground advertising moderate usage, this was a super busy campground on a late August weekend. It was full early on a Friday evening and we had to double up on one large campsite as well as both groups having to pay the full campsite fees. Many of the campsites are very open with minimal privacy from the next campers.
Lots of traffic within the park, but you didn't hear any highway noise.
It would probably be nice here midweek but I didn't experience the "serene" on the weekend visit.
Its a little pricy for offering only aging outhouse toilets, but its probably consistent with the fees charged at all provincial parks.

I spent one night camping here. The campgrounds themselves were nice, but the pad site was not friendly towards tents since it was gravel. I broke a stake trying to set up my tent and was uncomfortable trying to sleep on the gravel. Would not recommend it for tent campers.

The area and lakes are gourgeous. Campsights are not raked, firepits not cleaned out. The upkeep not great. Recycle was a metal garbage can that had a sign on it " refundable bottles and cans only". If you leave fire wood, they will pick it up and resell it, so give it away!! Not a very good PFO.

Is there parking for day users of the lake? If so, does it fill up quickly if going midweek?

Is the water always as blue as it looks in photos or is that only certain types or year or certain lighting?

Is this lake sandy, or muddy? I can't tell if that's white sand or a white mud...

It's both. The white stuff is a fine white sand made from naturally occurring seashells (something to do with glaciers). It's risky to walk in as it has the texture of mud and one can and will sink into the mud.
